Joe Kane is a demanding guy. They did with the original DVE too (I don't recall if VE was delayed as I bought it after it came out).

I recently read that we may be lucky if it actually gets released on HD DVD.
And a Blu-Ray version is likely to hit the street in 2029. :)

It was an English/American website, but I can't remember which one.

What's the real advantage of an HD-DVD version vs. the SD version? I have an HDTV, but it's a CRT. Does it just help with the flatpanel stuff?

no. If you have an HD DVD player you will get a HD (1080p/i or 720p) signal (different color/hue and contrast/brightness settings). It will get you a better calibrated HD image. CRT will most definitely benefit (like any HD display). You need an HD DVD player. In your case you could get a true 1080i signal into your TV and calibrate accordingly. It will also have TrueHD and DD+ audio calibration.
