I was thinking about getting it, but its still the old 90nm chipset. I'm kind of on the fence now.

If it doesn't have the new CPU then it's really not worth it unless you really need HDMi or want a black console, THe HDD is going to be sold seperately anyways so.

But even the HDD is pricey..

90nm = no sale for me. I'll wait for them to introduce those chips before spending my money on one.

Dude 179,99 for 120GB ?? I'm from Canada so its going to be at least 199.99 here for sure. 200 dollars for 120 GB, thats kind of expensive :confused:

I'm getting a new TV down the line, so maybe have a backup 360 is a good idea. Mine hasn't messed up once since I got it launch day, but just in case.

I'm definitely waiting for the 65nm processor. I'm currently without 360 waiting for a more reliable version (hopefully).

And your old 20GB HDD will be left blank once all the info is transfered over to the new 120GB HDD. So basically you could sell or keep your old 20GB HDD and put it on a core system.

Doesnt seem worth the extra money just for HDMI and a black finish. Sure is nice looking though.

i'll wait till the elite becomes the premium, and 65nm is implemented, then get a black case for it.

All I have to say is why ... I mean yea a few people want HDMI but I would think they could have made a price cut way before Sony so that they can move more units. Now they are just dragging behind Sony and trying to have what they have just because they want to shut up Sony. The best way to shut them up is to move more units and steal more exclusives. Period. They started with the VGA cable update so that they can say they do 1080p and then the add-on so that they can play high def disks .... and this Elite (which I will be getting because I am an upgrade freak - I blame this site lol) which costs $480 without a HD-DVD player inside. Where I can get a Blu Ray player in the PS3 for $20 more. And it already has HDMI from the start.

It could have been a real blow to Sony if they added the HD-DVD inside for that price or just did a price drop.

Just so that this doesn't scream Sony fanboi ... I don't even own a PS brand and I have a 360. Check the sig.

BTW that development money could have went into making some great games or stealing some exclusives and paying people to add content to Xbox Live. Just a thought though.

Is it just me or does the spec and price-point of this SKU only serve to make the PS3 look slightly more attractive?

This is great for all of those people who think HDMI offers some advantage over existing connections. The picture quality has to be tons better, right?

How do i get digital audio out to my AVR ?
Looking at the pictures above I do not see a seperate digital audio out.
Does it also come with a new A/V plug or is it the standard one that comes with the other boxes ?

Damn! $180 for a 120GB Hard drive. That sucks. I guess its better than $100 for a 20GB.... but still.

Its too bad that the Drive isnt a standard SATA drive.

yep not a very good decision at ms at all..... but i really think they took their perspective away from winning the console battle to finally making money on the console battle and imo its way too early in the process.

Yes that is the craziest thing of all. I paid $90 shipped for the 120G HDD I place din my PS3. This thing should have been $125 (Packaging and cage costs etc) and the 20G should have been scrapped.

Alright guys... I don't think we need another thread about this.
