US, March 28, 2007 - Tecmo's PS3 update to the original Ninja Gaiden isn't due out in America and Japan until June, but those wanting a sneak peak will have to wait less than a month. In the latest issue of Japan's Famitsu Weekly, Ninja Gaiden Sigma director Yosuke Hayashi revealed plans to make a playable demo of the game available on the PlayStation Network starting 4/27. The demo will include one specially created chapter that won't be in the final version and will allow players to use a large number of weapons from the start.
The big question is, of course, will owners of PS3s outside of Japan be able to get quick access to the demo through the US and European PlayStation Stores? While Tecmo hasn't made an official announcement, Hayashi did reveal that the demo will include an online score rank mode that will allow players from throughout the world show off their ninja skills. Sounds like PS3 owners everywhere have something to look forward to late next month.

Blitzzz 03-28-07, 03:26 PM It's really nice to see when developers put effort into their work. Too many half-assed, make money quick games out there nowadays.
BrianEK 03-28-07, 03:38 PM Yeah, online PS3 owners have something to look forward to in JAPAN!!! disappointing nothing has been announced for the US PSN store. Hopefully it will be around the same time, but I won't be surprised if it comes to us a month later.

You act like there is even a remote comparison between the 2. There is NO comparison to GoW.

You're right.
GoW = Easy combo game
Ninja Gaiden = An actual challenge with damn good AI
lacombo 03-28-07, 06:01 PM I can def see this as being U.S. too and not just a Jap release.
its really nice that not only do you get a new level but also most of the weapons.
headcase151 03-28-07, 08:02 PM GOW is just a button masher.

i have to agree. but that does not mean GoW is a bad game, because it is far from that. GoW2 is one of the best action games i've played. my favorite being DMC3, which is arguably even harder than NG.
vilmer_ 03-28-07, 08:29 PM Try GoW II on Titan Mode if you think it's just a "button masher"... With that said, I'm really looking forward to the demo :)
joeblow 03-28-07, 09:04 PM The difference in these games is how easy or tough the default difficulty mode is. DMC3 designers toned it down in the SE version, and I hear NGS designers are doing the same. Does that now make those games button mashers?
All of these franchises are best played (and best evaluated) on their toughest difficulty IMHO. With that said, GoW2 are both excellent and challenging games for 95% of the gamers out there if you play it on a harder mode. No doubt NGS will be the same.
Since the hardest levels of play for all of them are very tough, there's no need to argue over the default difficulties... if you can handle it, beat the hardest modes and then give an honest opinion based on that.

The combat system of the 2nd one is totally different than before. Now you hold L1 and select one of 4 combos. It's 10x better than the first.

Good luck to anyone that accepts that challenge. It can be done but you have to be damn good. you can get hit an average of like 4 times and thats it. And you never get any health orbs. I accepted defeat after 3 days.
I never really thought GOW and NG were all that much alike. GOW is really a game that puts in these grand battles and tasks. The fun of GOW is not killing the grunts it's figuring out how to take down the big bosses. It's what I call an "experience" game. You don't play it for the challenge you play it for the experience the game puts you through, in this case the experience of being a larger than life greek hero taking down huge challenges.
NG is more of a traditional hack and slasher. The challenge is ramped up and the combat is deeper but everything is just moving through a level and killing a boss, all of which are basically killed the same way. So the challenge is the fun of NG.
Both great games but games with different intents.
