View Full Version : Gamefly New Eastern Distribution center!
scottro 03-28-07, 03:16 PM Hot damn...I just got this email:
Dear Scott,
Starting next week, you may notice that the return address on your GameFly mailer will be Pittsburgh, PA. We're pleased to open this new shipping location as part of our continued effort to improve mailing times for GameFly members across the entire United States.
Initially, we are launching this new distribution center for only a small subset of our members so we can complete our testing and training efforts. Over the next several weeks, we'll broaden the reach of this new distribution center to more members.
Shizelbs 03-28-07, 03:17 PM Awesome. If they establish one in the Seattle area, I am moving back to their service.
I just got the mail too...
FINALLY!!!!
I'm out in philly... sometimes it would take a game damn near a week to arrive.
talbain 03-28-07, 03:26 PM holy crap this is great news for the east coast. gamefly has become very close to unusable for me here in new jersey. send a game back on a monday, wait until the following monday for them to receive and update it, then wait ANOTHER week for the new game to arrive. 2 week turnaround is just not workable.
suhailtheboss 03-28-07, 03:31 PM still sucks for us with gamefly in kansas city
i'd imagine that the center of the country would be a good spot.
apparently not, it takes over a week for them to recieve my games, thats not counting how long it takes them to send the next one in my cue out.
IF they even have anything thats on my cue (last time my entire cue said "short wait)
FrankJ.Cone 03-28-07, 03:46 PM Thats great news. When I used them it took a week to turn around a title.
scottro 03-28-07, 04:01 PM Well, the new center is less than 2 miles from me, within my zip code.
Watch it still take a week +.
logicalnoise 03-28-07, 04:22 PM Maybe I'll start another account in a couple monthes. I signed up back when they first started and it took a week to get anything done. 1 week for the game arrive 1 week for them to get it etc. If it can get down to a couple days I might enjoy it more. I live in Chicago BTW.
Stryker412 03-28-07, 06:54 PM Damn I didn't get that e-mail. bummer
HeadRusch 03-28-07, 07:42 PM Gamefly sucks, its only taken them..what...3-4 YEARS to open up an east coast hub?
And they're the biggest game rental service out there right now, aren't they?
I'm glad they finally did this, but I suspect that much like Netflix used to be, if you look for an older title and not just hot-off-the-dvd-press new games, you may wind up having to wait for it to be shipped from Cali. Via Camel.
I didn't get that email either. :(
vondozier 03-28-07, 11:27 PM Awesome, I'm in Indianapolis and I just signed up with GF a few weeks ago. Although even with their old California dist. center, the arrivals only took 4 days to get to me, not bad.
scottro 03-29-07, 08:50 AM I didn't get that email either. :(
Maybe that had flagged my account for constantly complaining about the turnaround time...I've canceled twice and cited that as my reason, I know I've taken at least one survey about the service, again, my biggest complaint.
Just keep an eye on the return address on your mailers.

Sorry man but standards are too low. I can accept 2 days of shipping(it is the USPS) but 4 days is insane. I also remeber it taking up to two days just for them to process my next game. Like I said I might btry them again if their service improves.

I agree gamefly sucks. Gamerang is way better here what gameflys new problem is going to be that gamerang has covered. Ok, new release all out in the new PA shipping center there are only 2 options: 1. wait for a game to get sent back from PA which can take forever or 2. ship from cali IF they have the game in and wait like a week. Now gamerang: Game is out in NJ it ships from ohio no game in ohio ships from indiana (somewhere around there I am not sure of the other centers). My point is that there are 5 other options to ship games to me. Gamefly still sucks. and their price sucsk too I forgot to mention that.
Stryker412 03-29-07, 11:27 AM I'll check out Gamerang. Gamefly is really starting to get to me.

I previously had GameznFlix, and they had dist. center all across the US, I'd regularly get my things there from PA, MI, and the like. And with how close they were, I always got things within 3 days. So that's kinda been my standard. One extra day doesn't hurt too much.
Maybe the new center will cut down on the 4 days. But so far, I'm happy with GameFly. They get their games out lightning fast.
lynesjc 03-29-07, 01:38 PM Why doesn't Netflix just diversify into games?
