Is Microsoft canceling the separate 20gig hard-drive if so I believe it would dum move on their part. They just need to drop the price to around $30, at that point the the core system become your big system saler and the elite makes more sense.

Core System $299 + 20 Gig HD $30= $329
For $70 more you get the Prem. system with wireless controller, HD cables, and headset, and for $80 more than that you get the Elite system with HDMI and 120 gig hard-drive.

Same price points($299,$399,$379) just drop the price of the 20 gig to make the core a system something someone would want to buy.

sounds to me like he didnt hear it anywhere, he was simply asking.

dropping the price sounds good, but that's too low to make profit AND it interferes with the memory card price points, i dont see it happening, it may see a small price drop, but not 70%

There should be significant price drop on the 20gb. If they are going to sell the 120gb for $179.99 how can the 20gb still be at $100.

Who's to say? It just will (I would assume).
