Without question, Happy Feet has been the title i've been waiting for! I mean, up until now, absolutely nothing i have ever seen, looks as good as my d-vhs version of ice age. Absolutely pristine in every sense of the word.. More importantly, its shockingly 3-dimensional. I just had a chance to view happy feet and i must admit....very, very impressive. in terms of sharpness and colors, etc. etc...the pictures are damn close.....in terms of the 3-dimension thing i mentioned in regards to ice age....yeah, it's kinda there as the picture is so good, but frankly, its just not as good as my reference d-vhs ice age.....just one man's opinion..

It's surprising to me how well D-VHS has held up. Considering D-Theatre is 1080i and MPEG-2 encoded, you would think that HD-DVD or BD would easily surpass its quality.

I don't have "Ice Age" on D-VHS, but I have quite a few other titles and most of them are as good or better than the best HD-DVD and BD titles I have.

I have both titles. Ice Age seems dated and flat looking (partly by design). Happy Feet looks like a cartoon on steroids. Bold, intense colors. Incredibly sharp and detailed. W-B did a good job of mastering.

yeah, it's kinda there as the picture is so good, but frankly, its just not as good as my reference d-vhs ice age.....just one man's opinion..Interesting. Based on memory I thought the 2nd "Ice Age" on Blu-ray made the first one seem dated. I didn't play them together, but the animation struck me as much better in the 2nd one. I would expect "Happy Feet" to be there with the 2nd "Ice Age", since they are basically the same vintage. But with less issues with noise and banding in "Happy Feet", based on what I've heard and read.

While HF looks good, I didn't like the "song breaks" during the movie. That's why Pixar is King, they don't slow down the show with a song every 20 minutes or less. On top of that I didn't like any of the songs at all. They should take a que from the Masters over at Disney.
