For a Direct View set (in my case, a plasma) how important is it to place the colorimeter up against the screen? My screen is tilted slightly towards the floor, so when I hang the colorimieter from the counterweight (DTP-94), it is a cm or so off the display. I am measuring in a darkened (but not pitch black) room.

Thanks!

Definitely makes a difference! I have first-hand knowledge of this...had a probe that was off the screen slightly like this and kept giving me odd results. Now I use a strip of painter's tape to hold it firmly in place.

Okay, thanks! Now I just have to figure out how to get it in contact without hurting the screen...Tape would make me nervous.

I run a strip of tape from the top of the cabinet/bezel to the bottom....no tape touches the screen itself.

An excellent idea. Makes me feel silly for not thinking of it myself. Thanks so much.
