View Full Version : The Official Nothing MS ever does will satisfy me & it costs too much thread
mrlittlejeans 03-29-07, 10:22 AM This thread is for those who just want to complain about everything Microsoft does or does not do.
If the Elite really pisses you off, please post here.
If the lack of WIFI really angers you, please post here.
If you think VGA is the answer to everything, please post here.
If you think Castlevania is overpriced, please post here.
If the fact that the HD DVD add on won't support 1080p 24 over HDMI gets your goat, post here.
If you think you didn't get enough shrimp in your shrimp scampi, please post here. Some extra napkins, a lemon, and a straw too please.
You get the idea. Let's try to keep the constant whining/complaining out of the other threads so people actually looking for information about something don't have to wade through page upon page of arguments.
Dreamaster 03-29-07, 10:25 AM In before the lock.
fjtorres 03-29-07, 10:46 AM Dunno, it may be a fun sticky to keep around.
If only to see how many posts it picks up... ;-)
If people feel a need to vent, giving them a venue might be worth the server storage space just to keep them out of the way...
Of course, it might need a more neutral title.
Maybe the "Official Things I hate about 360 thread"...
Daekwan 03-29-07, 10:58 AM Actually not to disturb the mods.. but I think having a *complaint* thread is a very helpful idea. It will let people get things off their chest.. and voice their concerns, complaints and criticism in one area. And stop the complaints from constantly ruining threads and sending topics off track.
Who knows. MS may even be watching as this forum does command enough attention to atleast be noticed by those like Major Neslon.
Im not sure who at MS decides things like included features.. or ala carte items.. or even pricing. But instead of doing tons of market research a quick peek in here now and then could put them directly in touch with the wants, needs and concerns of the hardcore gamer. Which apparently they have been listening too or the Elite 360 wouldnt exist.
I'll start with my concerns.
1) I believe the Elite is adequately priced. I just believe it should include the Wifi adapter in its $479 price tag. I think the even though $20 bucks more gets you the PS3.. the fact that the 20 gig PS3 still lacks in features and HDD storage space, is rarely available at most stores and is rumored to be phased out.. make it non competitive versus the Elite 360.
2) I believe both harddrives are overpriced. I understand completely you can go to newegg or whatever and buy a 120gig notebook drive for around $100 bucks. And I understand the data transfer tools are worth another $30. So why beat me down for the extra $50.
I believe MS wants to be competitive. They have delivered on pretty much everything asked for in the hardware and software department. Just deliver on the pricing.
The 20gig harddrive really should drop in price to about $69.
The 120gig harddrive should drop in price to atleast $149.
At those price points.. sales could possibly double for both items as the actual percentage cut in price isnt much.. but the percieved value of the product is greatly multiplied.
Speaking of Pricing.. I would expect to see price cuts across the board for all 360 systems starting in the September.
Elite - $449
Premium - $329
Core - $249
I think prices in those areas are healthy for both MS and for the consumer. With the 360 being 18 months old already they cant possibly still be losing money on each unit sold.
Stop being greedy and sieze this opportunity to take even more possible market share from the PS3 and the Wii.
DirtyNickel75 03-29-07, 11:05 AM i got a bad haircut so im mad @ ms
RAVEN56706 03-29-07, 11:24 AM my sh!t hasnt been regular since white castle tuesdays....
i blame microsoft...
dragonyeuw 03-29-07, 11:27 AM I think they should make the Elite $399,reduce the premium to $299 and drop the core altogether.Right now,if you're microsoft, you want to strike while Sony PS3 is getting all this negative press(losing exclusives, phasing out the cheaper 20gb PS3,game delays left and right).
It's about increasing Marketshare, and right now there's a bit of a post -xmas lull in big name games. You want to attract the fencesitters, drop the price, increase your marketshare, that will encourage even more companies to develop for you, maybe even take away more of Sony's exclusives. If I was MS,they'd be my primary concern right now.
Oh,and as a big complaint, the 120gb HDD is ridiculously priced.I have no intention of buying the elite model,I don't care about HDMI.I would like the bigger HD,but $179 is crazy.
spinksjinx 03-29-07, 11:28 AM I cant complain because I am not forced to buy it and it doesnt offer any features I dont already have or care for.
The only thing that pisses me off is that this is going to justify the purchase of the ps3 more and people will focus entirely on the elite forgetting about the other 2 skus in their arguments and justification...But like I said in an earlier thread hardware can be the greatest thing in the world but without good software its a paperweight, yeah I am talking to you Sony..MSFT has killer content so that alone justifies it for me...
The new elite offers nothing to gamers and is entirely focused on people who like media content..Having a HTPC I cant justify the purchase...I dont really see what the uprising is all about.

The two major complaints about the PS3 are its price and lack of good games.
Its 2 things about Elite vs PS3 argument that still does not justify the PS3
1) The 20GB PS3 might as well be a dinosaur. It existed.. theres proof it existed.. but chances are you will never see one. And you damn sure wont see on in Europe as it was never announced there. So the Elite is still $120 cheaper than the PS3. Look at the $120 you are saving as your BluRay Tax Refund check.
2) The PS3 library is still horribly lacking. For most multiplatform titles the 360 version looks better, plays better, has better online, and has acheivements.
Resistance is another top rated shooter, how many of those do we see every year? Motorstorm.. yes is visually amazing.. but contains very little else as far as gameplay is concerned. And the rest of the games are mediocore at best.. with ratings of 8 or below on a scale of 1-10.
The PS3 store and downloads are still greatly lacking in content.
And lastly No PS3 title is considered a system seller or Killer App yet.
Until Sony does something to address those things above.. the PS3 is still a non factor compared to the 360 as a *GAMING* machine.
The only other variable that would make someone consider the PS3 over the 360 is the inclusion of Bluray. Which I strongly believe most people who want Bluray have already purchased it in some form.. which is exactly why the PS3 only sold 127,000 units in the US last month.

Good points, except one problem. You are not the first to mention that he ps3 20gig version is practically obsolete but I cant believe it because every store in my town has the 20gig outweighing the 60gig by 2 to 1 at least..Perhaps because in my hometown city where I am from the median income is much lower than average perhaps?
I have a ps3, in fact I am on my 3rd. The first time around I bought it and sold it for face value in the parking lot as I was leaving...I got anxious and got another one I ended up selling to my brother in law...He wanted his money back, so he sold it to his friend who went and ebayed it because they had NOTHING...I broke down and bought another one exclusively for Blu-Ray its the most feature rich and cheapest BR player out their...So I bite the bullet just for the BR but unfortunately that is what Sony wants people to do...
No good games are even out and the ports are being developed for the 360 first hand which is what exactly happened to the Xbox and why it had its short comings...But I wont lie in that I am pretty excited over Ratchet and Clank even though I never cared for it on the ps2 the ps3 screens just look amazing...Will that be enough to carry it past the other consoles? I doubt it...
I still cant believe the ps3 is still under 2 million consoles.
Kysersose 03-29-07, 12:00 PM We have complaint stickies for REAL issues.
Those who don't like MS can quite simply stick with Sony or Nintendo.
I'll enjoy all of the above.
