Hi...
There is a class action law suit regarding many DVD player against Sony that was scheduled to be ruled on in the state of Illinois on March 22, 2007. Here it is over a week later and the Sony site still has not been updated:

FYI: Go to the above site if you have questions. Quickly: If you have proof you bought one of over a dozen Sony DVD players over the past years (about 9) you may be able to get something like another re-built DVD player or some Sony store credit. This might only work in Illinois. And probably only if the class action is approved.
