My new HD1000U has a gray box around the projected image. With 16:9 HD content and 100" image, there is about 2" of projected gray on both the top and bottom. There is about 1/2" on the left and right. Is this normal or is there a way to correct it?

This happens with either HDMI or component input so it seems like a projector setting. Changing overscan doesn't affect it. The shutter settings are at 0, higher numbers only increase the gray area.

There is already a thread on this, so do a search.

The short answer is that it's normal.
