Hi. Anyone have a good idea for music to put with my pre-show slides? I know in the theaters they use a service called "Movietunes." I would love to get a copy of that. It has an announcer and songs.
Are there any home theater announcement or music cds?
Any ideas?
Thanks!

For me instead I picked out several film soundtracks I liked then picked specific tracks from each burned them to a CD with 25 songs on it and just let it run. Serenity, Star Trak,Green Mile,Road to Perdition,Dr No,Goldfinger, etc.

One thing that you could try is if you have XM radio or Directv with XM radio stations. Use Cinemagic from XM, they play nothing but movie scores.

I made a 15 minute pre-show slide set using one song. Ravel's "Bolero".
The song is repetitive but builds on a crescendo to final climax.
Works well with a fade-to-black final slide.
Everyone has heard that song.

Telarc has a CD called "The Great Fantasy and Adventure Album" which has about 20 tracks featuring theme music from various action, adventure and fantasy movies. Most are selected from the title sequence or end credits of the movies. Very good if you like that kind of stuff and as usual from Telarc, a very good recording. Don't know for sure if it's still for sale - mine must be 8 - 10 years old already.

I pull stuff from Free Play Music (http://www.freeplaymusic.com)

I love movie soundtracks and have many CDs - and LPs, for that matter. I also go to iTunes and buy specific tracks - then I use my iPod. I have a Playlist called "preshow" and pipe it into the lobby.
The in theater preshow is part of the preshow DVD slideshow - and also uses the same music.
I like this approach far more than dumping in the latest pop songs you sometimes hear as commercial movie theater preshows.

My HT's not finished yet, but similar to CptnRandy's approach i'll use a home network server that contains all music we have (MP3 format). Using free software (kplaylist: www.kplaylist.net) you can make media available in your own home and anywhere in the world if you like, but that's not really necessary for HT use. I'm in the process of making a (randomized) playlist consisting of only movie soundtracks, which will be the pre-show music once the HT is finished.
