I have a Panny e55 and am well pleased with it. There are numerous threads here about it, usually seeking help for problems which have not surfaced for me,thankfully. But, I've noted a strain which :mad: reports the discontinuance not just of the e55 but of all units with HDD as well. How widespread is this actually and, more to the point, how permanent is it likely to be. I waited to buy my recorder until HDD was larger in the package and have neither the desire nor the intention to be without one in the future. Can we get some clear info on this disturbing trend.

HDDs are mostly gone. i saw one Panny with HDD, DVD, and VHS about a month ago. Never have seen another HDD unit anywhere.

Search the other threads - just need to have some patience - HDD models are not gone, just being retooled with digital tuners.
