Hi, this is my first topic!
I am using a macmini as a client in a network. I've another computer as server of video and audio. I just want to use my macmini as a video client so no keyboard/mouse is connected.
I would like to create some applications with automator to have always classified and updated my material.
Here is where my problem begins.
Using DVD Assist, f.e. I need to put manually an alias inside "Movies" folder (or subfolder) to tell the mac there are new movies in the server. I would like to automate that:
Automator offers all the steps but the last and more important.
1. Delete previous alias in XXX folder, OK <-- this can be another app
2. Connect to server, OK <-- direct action provided by finder
3. Find files, OK <-- direct action provided by finder
4. Select only .mov files, OK <-- direct action provided by finder.
5. Make an alias in XX folder from previous selection <-- MISS!!
Why finder can create copies of step 4 in other folders but not alias??
There are 3 or 4 more situations where I would like to create a list of alias from a finder's search result, but I cant.
Can someone please tell me if there is an action, or applescript available to do the task? I've been unable to find it.
I think this is a very important question and a solution for this should be available. When working with several shared folders alias files are important when frontrow wants everything inside "movies" folder.
