View Full Version : What a shame

This unfortunately will be my last post. I am unwilling to belong to a forum that is monitored by someone who would abuse his authority to support a personal opinion. I personally do not enjoy reading posts that do nothing but gripe about things. Particularly things that can't be changed. No matter what I might think of these posts and the people who enjoy them, these people are entitled to voice thier opinion, it is why forums exist, it is why forums are popular, it is why our fathers and grandfathers died in wars and why our military continue to make sacrifices. I refuse to let my typed thoughts be edited by someone who does not share these beliefs. I have enjoyed my short time as a member of this forum and will miss being able to share thoughts and ideas, but it seems I am unable to do that anyway if they don't conform with one individuals opinion. Good, Bad, I'm the guy with the choice.

Goodbye!

Do tell, what happened to sour you in this way?

I felt it necessary to do this in response to a locked thread (not mine) in the xbox section. I decided to post here as well since I spend most of my time in one of the two sections.

You have the freedom to open up a new forum. That is how freedom of speech works now and has always worked. He that owns the media is the one with the freedom of speech.

You might want to edit that to read second to last post now. :D

Instal,

Our fathers and grandfathers died to give us the freedom to start our own forum and say whatever we wish, not necessarily to go into someone else's privately owned forum and say whatever we wish. The forum owners have rights, too.

It's a shame you feel you must leave because you'll be missing out on a lot of good information and the rest of the forum will miss out on the knowledge you may be able to share.

there has been a lot of, imo, uncessary editorial around here lately. the place is still a goldmine of information and as is regularly pointed out, this is free privately owned, managed and maintained--for that we should be thankful.

I have never understood the need to announce that a person is leaving and will not come back. In general no one cares in the least. None of us are all that important. Particularly when you have under 100 posts.

The reason that Threads get locked is because some one (or several members) violated the rules of this forum. Only forum moderators can lock threads. AFIK, the moderators have never abused their authority. As a matter of fact, they usually have gone out of their way to accomodate members. However, if members repeatedly refuse to follow the rules, then that's their fault.

It's too bad that you (Instal) have chosen to take it personally, but that is your decision.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Every forum I have ever been on is fairly censored, some more than others, I have seen people get mad and start their own uncensored forums and they are usually so delerious with their new found freedom that they just post over and over how good it is to not be censored and the forum just sucks. Moderators usually help keep things under control and on topic, I am sorry you feel differently.

I think I got the last post in on that xbox thread. Maybe that was the reason for the deletion

these people are entitled to voice thier opinion,...

You are not ENTITLED. You are "free" to voice your opinion but we are not required to listen or even provide the medium for making it possible to do it. You are "afforded" due process when you decide that the laws don't apply to you and society decides that they still do.

BTW:
Our forefathers didn't sacrifice their lives and their chirldrens lives so that you could violate rules established by the providers and agreed upon by those who enjoy their provision (as you DID when YOU joined) just so that you can "voice" your opinion.

So what happened, did you say you like the PS3 in the xbox forum? Maybe you said that GOW sucks, that's worth a lock! What about Gates, did you bash Mr. Gates?

I'm guessing you're a tool, and you need to bring attention to the fact that you have your head up your ass and don't know what you're talking about, but hey, that's just me.

I visit various forums, and consider this one to be the best managed. I have quit reading another forum because it allowed what I considered to be inappropriate and even abusive posts. Whatever the reason for a moderator here to lock a thread or delete a post, I support the moderator. In my experience, they have shown excellent judgment.
