I was suprised to see one of these when I was in the store (Ohio) yesterday. They had 5 of them at $519.99. When the salesperson brought it up on-line, it was 439, and 419 after 20 rebate. He said he would match it. He also explained that the .99 at the end of the price meant that it was not discontinued, like some of the other models with a .96 or .97, which means it is discontinued. For the same price, if I can find it, I'd rather have the 55 with a bigger HD rather than a VHS recorder.

Good luck with finding that EH55 deal - they are going for a steep price off eBay - if you can find them. If I were you, I'd jump on the EH75. 80GB has been plenty big enough for me. Not even close to filling it up. Frankly, I'm a nervous nelly about keeping programs on the HDD for any extended length of time, move them off to DVD as soon as I can because you never know when a HDD is going to lose it. I can't imagine losing 200GB worth of content...but that's just me.

Correction......
The .99 in the price indicates that Circuit City has not yet deleted it from their system. However, this model is discontinued by Panasonic. Like it or not, all manufacturers were forced to DC all recorders without an ATSC tuner. When you go into a CC store, you are generally dealing with salespeople that "make it up as they go along". In all likelyhood, CC keeps it active to maintain a higher price (actually $419.99 is not bad, as it's in short supply all over). Buy it and don't look back. You'll pay megabucks for an -EH55!

80GB gets me about 35 hours on my E80H from Panny in SP mode.

I got one for the same price, bought it online for in-store pickup and had them put my 10% off any DVD recorder coupon on the amount. Also used Fatwallet for 2% cash back and my CC Visa for 5% rewards on CC purchases :D
