Hello,
My 12" Cerwin makes a "boom" sound every time I touch (or sometime just getting my hand close without touching it!), the power cord and with no signal coming in. I thought it might be "filtering" and I should look at those Big capacitors and maybe replace them.
Any comments?
Thank you.

Strange,I think you should try another power cord with a tight fit.
J ai un CLS 15 cordon amovible et celui d origine etais un peu lousse,j ai pris un cordon de PC et celui tiens bon. Essaie un autre cordon d alimentation.

Thanks! Merci!
If that doesn't work, the loose connection may be internal. I have a Paradigm Servo-15 which had the same symptom even though the cable was a VERY firm fit. I had to open the sub and resolder the connections between the IEC receptacle and the amp board.
I take note of that. I'll do some tests and report back.
Thanks!
Pitou!

Whatever that "boom" is it is not likely to be faulty "Big Capacitors". Unless they've developed cold soldered joints. If that's the case resoldering will do. Unless you've had prior experience with soldering; "Don't try this at home".
In any event what you probably have is a loose or cold soldered connection, most likely in the signal path of the amp.
Thanks for your answer, I have no problem with soldering, so I'll take a look at the cord and everything.
