View Full Version : Post Your Samsung Calibration Settings dewar1234 04-01-07, 04:34 PM Attached are some different settings I found from this site and some others. Post your settings here so we all can compare. dewar1234 04-01-07, 04:40 PM I forgot to add a file from collinp. His settings worked the best for my set. Mistar Muffin 04-02-07, 10:08 AM What type of Samsung's are these for? DLP/LCD what? Does it even make a difference. Just curious. ab gangulee 04-02-07, 03:03 PM Sorry, do not have Excel Picture Settings (all scales from 1 to 100) - Mode: Custom Contrast = 69 Brightness = 56 Sharpness = 57 Color = 42 Tint = 47G / 53R Color Tone : Cool2 Screen size: Wide Digital NR: on Dynamic Contrast: on Brightness sensor: on “My Color Control”: out-of-the-box “Standard” setting Sound Settings- Mode: Custom SRS TSXT: 3D Mono MTS: Stereo Ideal TV main volume levels (scale from 1 to 100): 21, 34, 41, 54, 64, or 71 “Equalizer”: out-of-the-box “Standard” setting cricks 04-05-07, 06:51 PM Anyone have settings for the HLS series? Or do these all pretty much work the same? David Abrams 04-05-07, 07:13 PM Hello cricks, Here are some general settings that my business partner Eliab and I came up with for the HL-S series displays: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=8986054&&#post8986054 Enjoy! Dave cricks 04-05-07, 07:57 PM Thanks David! You gonna do a SF Bay Area Tour soon? David Abrams 04-05-07, 08:05 PM Hello Cricks, You missed my last tour by about a week. :( My next tour is slated to take place May 21st-25th. If you are interested in signing up please fill out our contact form here: http://www.avical.com/contact-us.html Good Pictures! :) Dave dewar1234 04-11-08, 05:06 PM how about posting some settings? even default settings. bodean 04-12-08, 12:54 AM (Xbox 360 HDMI1) Standard 94 30 0 50 50/50 3 Normal Gamma 0 Color Space Auto White Balance: 15 15 14 21 13 7 Make sure to turn Black Adjust and Dynamic Contrast to off. nicholc2 04-12-08, 01:48 AM Just remember your mileage is going to vary with this method. I have yet to calibrate a Samsung LCD that has ended up with the same settings even if it were the exact same model. dewar1234 04-12-08, 12:15 PM sure....i think that is a myth. Jordan420 04-12-08, 12:22 PM how about posting some settings? even default settings. I leave it at 63 But the default is 47 dewar1234 04-12-08, 12:25 PM leave what at 63? nicholc2 04-12-08, 02:38 PM sure....i think that is a myth. If tv's were manufactured more precisely from the factory to not have variations between then, then yes, it would be a myth. However, they are not, and no it is not a myth. dewar1234 04-12-08, 04:18 PM If it wont work why is it "professional courtesy" not to post your settings after your tv has been calibrated? nicholc2 04-12-08, 09:42 PM That's exactly why. Why post something that isn't going to be a true help to someone else? And, btw, I've never told anyone they can't post their settings. Believe me or not, that's up to you of course. Using someone else's settings may help some, but it's still not going to get you completely there. For example, for just the gamma setting alone, on one LN-T4661 I did I had to set the gamma to 0. The very next one I did, I had to set it at +2. RGB Bias/Gains are all different as is the contrast/brightness and everything else. Obviously you're going to believe what you want, but I'm being completely honest here. I'm not an ISF'r. I'm just a guy who got into doing calibrations on the side. I do it at a very reasonable price since not everyone can afford to pay big bucks for an ISF calibration. But nevertheless, each TV is different regarless of the make/model. This I can assure you. From my experience anyway. What I will do, though, is get the settings from two of my calibrations (both LN-T4661s) and I will post them in this thread. I don't have the courtesy rule myself, so I don't mind sharing. I have to get ahold of the guys to get the settings, though, as I don't have them in my records at this point. But as soon as I get them, I'll post them. dewar1234 04-13-08, 09:16 AM i look forward to seeing your post. Also do you ever come to Cincinnati for calibrations or just Columbus? How much do you charge? Do you have a website? Again I can't wait to see your next post. nicholc2 04-14-08, 11:28 AM Here are the settings for two different LN-T4661's I calibrated personally. As you can see, each one is different with the exception of the picture mode, colortone, and Roffset (which is just a coincidence honestly). For what I charge, it doesn't really make sense for me to travel very far. You'll see what I mean when you look at the link. :-) booker21 04-16-08, 01:02 AM samsung lns3251D Picture Movie Contrast 85 Brightness 55 Sharpness 10 Color 45 Tint na (hdmi) backlight high (lower backlight setting) Colortone Warm2 Dynamic Cont Off (off by default on movie mode) dewar1234 04-19-08, 06:51 PM What about any service menu settings? nicholc2 04-19-08, 09:18 PM I don't enter the service menu unless there are no user grayscale/gamma/CMS controls available. For the ones I posted, I did not go into the service menu. No reason to. booker21 04-20-08, 05:53 PM i´m wondering do you guys use DNIE? on my display there is no way to disable this, the closest i can do is disable Dynamic Contrast, Dynamic CE and Dynamic Dimming. i do like it but the Contrast Enhancement changes are annoying so i use Movie mode because this turn all extra processing off. Michael TLV 04-20-08, 08:03 PM Greetings If the goal is image accuracy, then DNIE stays off. Regards booker21 04-21-08, 12:32 AM Greetings If the goal is image accuracy, then DNIE stays off. Thanks! devotiondoubt 04-25-08, 03:39 PM i´m wondering do you guys use DNIE? on my display there is no way to disable this, the closest i can do is disable Dynamic Contrast, Dynamic CE and Dynamic Dimming. i do like it but the Contrast Enhancement changes are annoying so i use Movie mode because this turn all extra processing off. I always thought that movie mode disabled DNIE. When you do the DNIE demo I never see a difference between DNIE and regular movie mode. Michael TLV 04-25-08, 03:49 PM Greetings Need to look a little harder at DNIe. :) It adds a touch of EE, and Floating black levels and dynamic contrast all into the mix... and probably some other stuff too. Regards buckeyejh 04-27-08, 11:32 AM Best Buy would not calibrate my Sammy HL-T6187S. The service guy said that they do not calibrate DLP's as they do not know how to calibrate them. Has anyone else ran into this problem? D-6500 04-27-08, 09:40 PM Hmmm. Even the local power supply can effect final results, I suppose. I'd recommend making sure receptacles used by the HT are all on same circuit, are new or in good condtion, wired properly(no quick connects or "back stabs"), and there is a good surge-pro or power-con between the outlets and the gear drawing from them. Also a high enough amperage for the whole domicile - 60amp service worked in the Cleaver house, but 200amp is considered common place today - don't want the picture to dim or shrink everytime a vacuum is run or the fridge kicks in. Nothing like clean steady current and good grounds as the basis of any AV setup, from a two-piece(TV & VHS-DVD combo) to a twenty-piece blowout. steveinaz 05-16-08, 01:14 PM HL-S5086W calibrated with DVE: Source: Panasonic DMP-BD30k BluRay via HDMI 720p out Mode: Movie DNR: Off DNiE: Off Cont: 62 Bright: 52 Sharp: 35 Color: 44 Tint: 50/50 Temp: Normal Source: Oppo DV-980H S-DVD via HDMI 720p out Mode: Custom DNR: Off DNiE: Off Cont: 60 Bright: 42 Sharp: 35 Color: 46 Tint: 50/50 Temp: Normal Source: DTV H21-200 HDTV Receiver via Component 720p out (seat-of-the-pants calibration) Mode: Standard DNR: Off DNiE: Off Cont: 58 Bright: 52 Sharp: 35 Color: 40 Tint: 50/50 Temp: Normal NOTES: General consensus says use "warm2" I tried, just too red for me--same with warm1; but I encourage you to try warm 2 first, they are pros, I am not. Realizing that you must calibrate your own set, these settings will probably hold you until you get it done. I "racheted" up contrast a bit and then recalibrated brightness to reference because I like a little more pop in my images--a personal preference thing, plus my livingroom is open and well lit with ambient light. YMMV. |
