I have made a dozen or so recordings on my new recorder and then I see a problem. While dubbing a VHS tape to DVD, the Panasonic recorder shuts down all by itself. I can restart the process and record again, but this happened twice while doing this on the same tape. Any suggestions? This is an older commercial VHS recording that I was putting on my own disc. There is no apparent copyguard as it plays through the DVD recorder while in record mode.

The first 12 recordings went flawlessly, operation wise.

It just may be as simple as the brand of dvds that your using & has nothing to do with dubbing the VHS tape at all?

I would try another brand of dvds & with Panasonic I would stick with the RAM or -R format discs because some Panny's just don't seem to like the +R format.

Thanks! I was using a Staples +R media. This is a new thing to me and I just need to get the discs that work the best. They all look alike to me. :)

Yep, It's probably the Staples +R discs. I would try some Sony, TDK or Maxell -R discs & if you can find the ones Made In Japan all the better.

A good place to check for Made In Japan Sony discs is Walgreen's Drug Stores.

Again I would stick with the -R Format (Or RAM) for your Panny Recorder.
