Alright this has gotten me thinking since buying a new Pioneer Elite Pro-1140HD Plasma. Should I ISF calibrate or not? I came from a Elite Pro-630HD RPTV that was calibrated and every since I got a my first RPTV I've always had them calibrated since 1996-97.

Well my new plasma has some very nice calibration inputs (DAY & NIGHT) on them that I'd like to see what it would look like. I've be rather happy with the past calibration and the same guy has been doing mine since I even knew about ISF calibration. Like I said I've been very happy with the results in the past but even back then when I had it done I didn't have a lot of money but I wanted that perfect picture but still after having it calibrated something in the back of my head sometimes said that if I just left it alone (and the picture was quite perfect), I could have saved $700 bucks.

Anyways since turning on my new plasma I've been very, very happy with the picture as it is. I've only had the plasma for 5 days now and I've been using "D-Nice's" recommended break in settings. Even with using his settings and it still looks incredible! I can't imagine what it would look like calibrated and broken in.

So I'm looking for opinions and recommendations on what avenue I should take.

Well, if you're super happy with the picture, it's probably not worth it. If it's something you'll never get out of your mind with a constant "what if I did get it calibrated", you might want to blow the cash just so it is accurate and you can get it out of your system. In my case, the factory calibrated settings were awful, so it was DEFINETLY worth it, since it went from a terrible picture to a fantastic one.

Probably a good, fast way to check is if you still have that other calibrated TV, put them side to side and run the same scene from a movie, maybe two, one that's fairly dark and one that's fairly well lit. If they look about the same, you can probably live without spending the cash on pro-calibration.
