Hello all,
I got Happy Feet on BD today and I must say Im far from impressed with the quality, as it seems that many of you have noted. Additionally, there seems to be frame damage on one frame in the scene where the penguins are flying down a mountain, but I thought this was a direct digital transfer?

Here is the frame:

Can anyone enlighten me as to what this is?

And yes, I have heard many complaints about the low bitrate on the image and yes, it is certainly visable on even a 40" screen.

Cheers,
Ben

Maybe it's a dropout on the D5 tape the encode was sourced from.

So nobody else had previously seen this?

So one whole frame from a 24 frame per second movie? That doesn't seem like a big deal.

well i noticed it enough when i was watching the film proper, and i had to go back to check it out.

I thought this forum was pretty passionate about stupid mistakes like this. I dont consider myself overly anal, but this stuff just shouldnt happen.

My panasonic player had no problem at all. I think Happy Feet looked amazing. Which bluray player do you have?

If I have a moment this evening I'll take a look around for it. As noted above, a timecode would be helpful.

P.S. What sort of display is that pic taken against, a DLP rear projection? There's a horrid rainbow moire pattern on the linked image.
