About a year ago, I bought my first HT setup and now I have questions about how to maximize the placement of my components? After reading several threads about how much heat is produced and released by components, I went back and looked at how my components are placed in my entertainment center and decided they need help? I have not had an issue with overheating but I do hear that the PS3 runs hot/noisy and I'm trying to find a way allow for a little airflow and release. Here is a picture of my cabinet, but I have chocolate brown.

The back has only 1 hole at the bottom for the cords to pass through. The entertainment center is located in my living room and I'm trying to keep components hid as much as possible. Keeping the doors open is not a viable option because people will run into them.

My components are are follows:

1) Panasonic Plasma
2) Monster 3500 Power Conditioner
3) Harman Kardon AVR
4) SA 8300 DVR
5) Sony upscaling DVD player
6. Sony PS3 (just purchased and have not connected).

Ok, if you are looking straight on at the cabinet, on the right side I have all my components stacked in this order (top to bottom):

Sony Upscaling DVD Player
SA 8300 DVR
Monster Power Conditioner
--------shelf----------
HK AVR

On the left side cabinet, I keep my movies and general stuff.

Now that I have the PS3, I'm going to spend the weekend reconfiguring my component and cabinet to maximize space and air flow.

I was thinking of this configuration:

On the left side (top to bottom):

PS3 (blue-ray player)
Upscaling DVD Player
-------shelf--------
Monster Power Center

On the right side (top to bottom):

Movies
-------shelf------
SA 8300 DVR
HK AVR

or:

On left side (top to bottom) Since heat rises:

Movies
-----shelf------
PS3 (blue ray)
Upscaling DVD Player

On the right side (top to bottom)

SA 8300 DVR
Monster Power Center
-----shelf-----
HK AVR

I've thought of buying a couple of these but I'm unsure about placement?

All suggestions and comments welcome.

Is there another section of the board that would be more appropriate for this question?
