I have a few problems that i would appreciate being answered.

1.I have a pioneer vsx-516 receiver that when listening\watching a move every 30 min or 45 min 1 or 2 seconds time goes by when audio can no longer be heard. If i rewind the problem is not the disc of file being played. digital signal is being inputed into receiver.

2. for my htpc i recently got another set up that no longer has onbord spdif. I am using and older audigy audio card that has digital out by use of a mini jack but I cannot get it to work. I considered using the analog minijacks but there are 3 separate outputs for front, back, and sub center I would guess. should i set windows to just output 2.1 and then just use the one stereo jack to input analog into the receiver? how much quality loss would there be compared to digital signal?

thanks!

The 516 is relatively weak powered.

How do you have your speakers set? Large or small? What cross over.

Is it only at a certain volume and above? Like extremely loud? Or does it do it when it's really quite too?

Use minijack to RCA converters. IIRC that pioneer has a multichannel input. Run them into that.

BTW, it'd recommend getting a new audigy. The sound quality difference between that and the on board sound is amazing

ok all my speakers are set to small and i have the pre out sub. cross over is default to 100hz. I dont believe it happens only when its too loud I always keep the setting on the amp above -30db. I did look and on the back it does have 5.1 in a separate section for right left then center and sub and i know creative cards have output for front rear and center/sub so im not sure how i can work that out. and the miniplug to rca comverts you speak of are they mono or do they have a line on the mini jack male portion?
