Hi there,

I have got a question about the TH50PX60U capabilities.
I am living in European country and my friend got this version (not the "TH50PX60E")

For people having the U version : Can u choose PAL/SECAM signal on the user interface ?

Thanks in advance,

Silk.

For people having the U version : Can u choose PAL/SECAM signal on the user interface ?You can download the TV's User Manual from Panasonic's website and read that. I don't know what PAL/SECAM is but i do know there's nothing in my PX50U's menus with these terms :o

I believe 60U's accept a 576i 50 Hz signal, but I'd check with the user manual.

The Panasonic "U" models are for the USA (well, North America actually, but isn't the USA all of North America?)

They have built-in NTSC and ATSC tuners, which are specific to North America and the few other countries around the world which use the same standards. PAL (the standard used by Europe and many other countries), and SECAM (the French standard) are incompatible with the NTSC tuner in the 60U, and the various European countries all have their own HD standards which are incompatible with the ATSC tuner as well. So in answer to your question: No, it won't work.

However nothing stops you from hooking up component video to an external tuner.

NTSC = USA
PAL/SECAM = Europe

Just a signal standard.

Thanks all for your answers.

Ok. This TV didn't have PAL/SECAM Tuner.
But does the TV support the color system SECAM ?
Like i have read on the panasonic french site :
"NTSC/PAL/PAL 60Hz/SECAM/M-NTSC" color system supported"

I mean, if i connect an external video equipment like dvd player using SECAM as video output.
Could i choose the right color system on the TV or will i get only black & White :( ?

In this case i could use an external tuner with composite cable and select SECAM to have the right frequency (50Hz) and number of line.

Regards,
Silk.

Nope. Only the Panasonic Commercial Displays ("U") accept PAL/SECAM.

That's for the European or French (If available) Models.

You mean display of the "E" letter for PAL/SECAM ?

Sorry, I meant to say...

The USA Panasonic Commercial Plasmas (4UY/5UY/6UY/7UY/8UK/9UK) also accept PAL/SECAM .

The USA Panasonic Consumer Plasmas (2003 and newer) don't.
