View Full Version : 2007 Plasma Prices
I realize that not all the new MSRP's are out yet for the new plasma's but I wanted to make a thread that would encompass all of the new sets that are coming out this year so the average person can come in here and see what is in their price range.
If you have any links to the Specs of the TV or the MSRP pricing please post them here!
Big Mike 04-04-07, 08:48 PM As a trend, I'm expecting the same as last year. "Screw" the customer who has to have it NOW with an inflated MSRP as the new unit is first released. At 60 to 90 days after the release, drop the MSRP. At 6 months another "new" MSRP. Finally drop the price to the retailer more at the end (keep the MSRP the same) so they can have clearance "sales" to move out the last of the inventory. Now the whole scam can start all over again with the next new model. Overall prices as a whole continue to go down. That's the good thing. Marketing at it's best.
Mike :D
tsloeza 04-04-07, 09:31 PM Don't you guys think that prices will not drop much anymore and they have hit the point where we will only see slight drops say $50-100. 42"plasmas in the $1000 range, 50" plasmas will stick in the price range $1600 To $2200 and any thing bigger will be in the $3000 range. We wont see the $1000 Drops anymore. Atleast thats what I think, Hopefully I'm wrong because I want My 58" panny.
Big Mike 04-04-07, 09:43 PM As a percentage, I think we will still see some nice drops. Because the starting prices are lower, the dollar drops will not be as large. I think the most significant drops will be on the larger sizes. Hang in there, that 58 you want will be under $3000. soon, if not already. I'm holding out for something over 60 inch. It's coming.......

dustman52 04-04-07, 10:16 PM 1080p will help drive down the price of 720p sets which is good news if you are in the market for a set 50" or less. I think you could see most 50" 720p sets from $1200-$1500 by the holiday season.
I'm really hoping for a 60" or larger...would like to get 1080p and don't want to spend more than $4,000 hopefully by Christmas time it is a reality, we will see though.
PhilipsPhanatic 04-05-07, 12:42 AM I posted a detailed pricing forecast from Wall Street analysts last week.

just waiting to see what the new 8g 1080p pioneer 60" elite and pure line will msrp for this summer/fall.
I'm definately looking forward to the panny 58"...I currently have a 60" projection so hopefully it isn't a knock downward too bad as far as screen size to me. Would definately like to compare PQ of the Philips and the Panny although I haven't found anyone around me that has any Philips plasmas on display.

Let the bleeding of my wallet begin! :p
dssturbo1 04-06-07, 06:05 AM well it could start at $10K like the fhd1 50" and come down a couple months to $8K then a few months later they gave away a 5016 with it...........when the fhd1 was at $10k you could fiind it for under $7k street. find an elite dealer to suck up too :).

I have a BB that carries the Elite line. I guess I’m going to have to start brushing up on my sucking skills. :o
What are the chances the Pioneer 60" 1080p Elite will have a MSRP of 8k?
Seriously, I think theres a good chance that the Pure model will be 6k and the Elite 8k, but with high demand, they will be scarce and will not discount much.
I'm thinking it will be around 8k as well but you won't really find anyone who will sell it cheaper until Christmas (go down just a bit) and then it will prolly go down to like 6k next summer.
