I'm in the lookout for a G70 remote, where could I find one? I couldn't find one on ebay, videogon, or curt's.
I heard that there are some codes that you can use to program a universal remote instead, does anyone know how this works and/or have the codes?
Thanks guys.

*try "remote central" they have a ccf for the full service remote,
*you can still buy it new from SONY if you want to pay stupid dollars, or
*keep an eye on Fleabay...
*and I think curt has/d some basic remotes that just turn on/off and switch signals.....
that or open up the flap on the back of the projector :D

From what I was told no remote was included which was even the one attached to the projector. If by chance it is still there can that remote do all the necessary functions for a full setup?
If the one on the PJ is there you can do a full setup with it. If you want to save a few $$$, look for a 12XX series remote and you can do all of the important stuff except I think it is the magnetic focus. The work around for the mag focus is to get into mag focus menu with the on board remote and then work with the IR 12XX series remote.
I stupidly spent the extra $$$ for the G70 remote (not Sony prices though  ) I've not regretted it but could have 'gotten by' with the 12XX series remote for the little mag focus work I've done.

The controller on the back of the projector....IS EXACTLY the same as the "remote"...it will be 'attached' and hard-wired to your projector. One of the only reasons to be chasing a 'remote' is if your ceiling mounting...otherwise it's not entirely necessary.

Does the 'attached' remote come off so its just hard wired and then you can take it with you when looking at the screen? I think it would be kinda rough to do a complete setup on a remote stuck to the projector and not being able to move close to the screen.

You can clip the wires leading to the control panel inside the projector, and use a four conductor wire to extend them.. that way you can take the built in panel and use it as a wired remote. I did this once with my 1272, until I got an actual IR remote for it. This is also handy for controlling your projector from the same place your sources sit.

Does the remote for a 1292 do the same stuff? (I have an extra) It has EM focus, is there more to the G70?

Nate did you find a remote?
Wow, you really dug this one up from the grave. A lot has happened since then, but to make a long story short I ended up getting a XG LC machine that I still have so I don't need one anymore, thanks anyways.
