I just had my new Sylvania EDTV delivered today from Amazon, and for the most part love it so far. I am going from a 32" lcd to a 42" plasma. The problem I'm having is there seems to be an extraordinary amount of "noise" in the picture. For example, on ESPN HD the grey bars on the sides are very staticy and fuzzy, on my lcd they were very sharp with no visible noise. Also, earlier in the day there was white "sparkles" at the bottom of the screen that lasted about 5 minutes and then went away. Also, I am having a problem on my dvd player where there are sometimes rollings lines on the screen that come and go for no reason. I have everything plugged into a cheap $10 surge strip, is this my problem? I hear a slight buzz as well but as I understand this is common for plasmas. Would it be worth it to get a more powerful surge suppressor and something with some kind of noise filtering technology in it?

No, but most of our expertiese is with HDTV's.

Check your connectinos, are you using quality component cables, make sure your OSM settings on the TV are correct. Sometimes re-reading the Owners Manual is helpful.

I can see the faintest of 'back-movement' -- more like a rolling flicker, not clearly identifiable lines -- on some DVD's like cartoons. It's only apparent in certain scenes. I think it's a combination of non-HD material, the cables, the DVD player, and the material being played and the color scheme. I saw it barely visible from normal distance yesterday on a JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED scene with Superman and then it was gone 10 seconds later when the action shifted.

Return it and get a real TV.
With todays prices and deep discounts, there is no reason buying an obsolete technology.

Thanks but no thanks. Got a killer deal on the set and love it! Plasma is so much better than the lcd I had.
