Hello everybody,
I just bought a Sony 1252 and it is working great. Now I checked G2 Voltage to see if the values are near to the 4 Volts and was shocked to see that there is a little less than 1V on each pin?
I did not turn the screen volumes and the original "Do not touch" sticker is on them.
What shall I do? What is wrong?
Thanks a lot

Does your 1252 have HD-8 lenses? If so it is a 2nd generation and should be set to 1.5v.. Either way just adjust it to the proper voltage.

Thanks for the information, yes its a second generation! Are you sure that it should be 1.5v? Sorry for the question. I ask because I do not find this information anywhere else and do not want to do a mistake.
Thx again!

I learned about the G2 voltage difference by looking through the archives here at AVS.. I stumbled across it while looking up general info for my 1272. If you try to do an advanced search for " +1272q +G2" in the archive , you may find it. My projector is a 2nd generation 1272, same production era as your 1252(only the 2nd generation 1252 and 1272-the last of them made- had the HD-8 lenses on them). If you PM me an email address, I have a supplement to the 1272 service manual in .pdf form that shows the 1.5v voltage, and the switch to HD-8 lenses. Both the 1272 and 1252 are basically the same except for differences in the internal cards(21 point vs 9 point convergence). The power system to the tubes is exactly the same.
One bummer though.. the HD-8 lenses are inferior as far as focusing capability goes than the older PT-65's that were on the 1st generation machines. I personally run PT-43 lenses off of an OLD 1270. They have different color coatings on them for each separate tube, which in my opinion helps the colors, but others here will argue against. The focus just as well as PT-65's(better than HD-8's).

Here is the section that refers to the g2 setting for second generation machines
