Hello Everyone, I decided to tell everybody what I am doing now to record programs with my Pioneer 640 now that I have switched to Fiber Optic, Digital, Verizon Fios.

Well as most people know in here the Pioneer 640 has an Analog NTSC Tuner in it and won't work with Digital by using it's own tuner, so here is what I am doing.

In addition to my TV (non HD), Cable Box (Motorola QIP-2500), and Pioneer 640, I also still have a VCR hooked up in case of the occasional VHS>DVD Transfer. I still have the VCR hooked where it stays on Channel 03 all the time and records whatever channel is on the Cable Box, so it got me to thinking about something.

My Cable Box is connected to my VCR using the RF Coaxial Cables, then my VCR is connected to my Pioneer 640 using the RCA (Yellow, Red, & White) Cables (going into Line 1), so if I want to record a Movie or TV show, etc... I have to do this:

Set Cable Box to desired Channel
Turn VCR on, set to channel 03 (no tape needed inside)
Turn Pioneer 640 on, and set to L1
Record selected programming

I imagine I could very well run the RCA Outputs of the Cable Box directly to the Pioneer 640, but I already have it set up using the VCR and it has been giving me good results.

Now for how I record more than one program on different channels.

Verizon Fios has something called: "Multi-Room DVR" where you can get one DVR and set it up anywhere you like (Family Room, Living Room, Den, Bedroom, etc...) and anywhere else in the house that you have a Cable Box you can watch what you recorded from the DVR.

So if your DVR is in your Living Room, and you have a Non-DVR Cable Box in your Bedroom, you can record programming from the DVR in the Living Room...and then watch it from your Cable Box in your Bedroom.

So I set all the programs to record on the DVR and then I go through the process that I listed above to record whatever I want to make DVD's out of.

Verizon actually has two different DVR's you can get, one that is just good for the TV it's hooked up to for $12.99/month, or the Multi-Room one, that can record two separate programs at the same time...and be viewed by up to 2 Cable Boxes in other rooms at the same time, for $19.99/month.

I know many people in here already are aware of a recording method as I described, but I just wanted to let everyone know how I solved my "Will My Analog, NTSC Tuner, DVD Recorder Work With A Digital Signal?" dilemma.

Anyone have any questions or wants to add anything, please do so.
