Hey guys, I did a search for this model TV, but couldn't find anything. My question is how would I go about calibrating the optimal settings, as I am horrible at doing it on my own. Could someone recommend some settings? Also, should I go into the service menu to configure more options?

Thanks in advance and apologies for my 'noobness'

If you are "noob" ; ) I would avoid entering the service menu at this point. Get the set broken in for about 100 hours, get a disc such as Avia or Digital Video Essentials, calibrate the contrast, brightness, color, tint, and sharpness in the user menu. From the Samsungs I've worked on, "Cinema" mode seems to produce the best Gamma results and get's the closest to an accurate grayscale without entering the service menu. After that, if you are still looking for more results, contact an ISF calibrator to work on the Service menu.

Also, recommending settings for your set from someone else's set doesnt always work. These things can come off the line pretty different from one display to another.

Any questions please let me know!
Chris

Go with Chris' recommendations. I would recommend the AVIA DVD ("Guide to Home Theater"), it's easier to use for someone new to calibration (ignore the CRT parts of the instructions). The basic user menu calibration should give you a very good picture. If you have a HD player (HD-DVD or Blu-Ray) then you might want to wait until AVIA releases it HD version (it also includes the SD DVD verson) later this month.

Another good DVD, that others recommend for newbies, is the "Monster/ISF Calibration Wizard" (it's not made by Monster, they just market it - and the price is reasonable). It doesn't use Test Patterns (which can confuse some people) but uses real world movie clips to illustrate the correct settings. You can get these DVDs form Amazon or other on-line stores.
