People...cell phone cams are fine, but can you make sure we can actually see what you have? I can see one disc facing us, and the rest is either too blurry or we're staring at the top (which I'm sure the 'philes among us can tell each and every one of them apart, but I can barely see that you have one boxset...).

no i'm not posting mine, it's too pathetic

I got mine off ebay, for around 80$ ;( Its got a huge markup on it now when its sold.

I cant find one for sale now but there is a link to info about it. You can hopefully find it using information from that.

I learned 2 things from this thread:

1. I thought my collection was decent.

2. Fox and Warner need to stop using the fat cases. The rectangular, slim cases stack so nicely and look much better.

That sounds fine to me ...I am still lsitening through 2 speakers and an old Pioneer receiver from the early 90's. I have been waiting for that new Sony 910 receiver to come out before I get a surround system for the blu ray player...so as it seems today...I am a bit archaic in the audio dept that coincides with my 1080P Bravia set and PS3.

"I hope you people realize that sharing or selling a copy of a movie recorded from cable would be illegal."

While technically correct it's not like we won't buy it when it comes out, or it's not like I don't already own the DVD version or the VHS versions twice.

I would like to get a writable BLU-RAY disc from you onthepunt and if it happens to have star wars HD on it I won't be mad.

Amazon.com, bestbuy.com, dvdempire.com, deepdiscountdvd.com, etc. They've been available for years. Volume 6 just came out in March. Volume 7 (season 5) should be coming in the next few months.

owning 14 copies of fight club does seem a bit excessive.

I only own 4 copies of the movie: 1 disc DVD, 2 disc SE DVD, R2 Steelbook, and D-VHS. The others are just the outer sleeve from the 2-disc SE.

THe ninja turtles that form has images on the spine that connects. You have a link to a sample one for sale?

the one with the spine art is not the '87 series, its the new fox series. that one is available everywhere also.

Is that a real DIVX disc? As in the old defunct pay per view format? I'm not sure why you are displaying it so prominently. :p

It's my trophy from the war. :D

Plus Die Hard is one of my favorite movies so I had to get it. I bought it for $.99 when Circuit City was clearing them out way back in '99.

To all of the HD DVD fans out there, I am format neutral (even though Blu Ray will close it out in the next 12 months) and this proves it.

Actually what this proves is that HD DVD has a foothold among BD fans. You are a BD fan yet you have over 35 HD DVD titles.

You really have no clue what's it's about for many. "HD DVD has a foothold among BD fans"????? Oh man. What it means is that some are interested in HD for the movies, regardless of which format they are on.

YOU, sadly, carry your badge of HD DVD only as a good thing. What it means is that you are interested in a format and not in movies.

Thanks for that rebuttal Jonathan... so many of my friends think I am insane for buying movies. "It's a total waste of money." These are the same friends that like to waste their money gambling, smoking, drinking and spending tons of cash dining out nearly every night of the week. Oops...nevermind I like some of those habits too.

Crappy is an opinion... one mans Lord of the Rings is another mans Flyboys. Some people also blindbuy movies. I bought Serenity before I ever saw it, and I like it I've watched it three times :)

While some BR owners may like POTC2, I dont. But I like POTC1 and when I get a BR player POTC1 will most likely be my first purchase.

That's not really what I meant, movies like POTC2 and Serenity are fine (I own both actually), some people like them and some people don't, but I'm looking at some of these collections with like 100 BDs, and it's as if some people just buy a BD movie just for the sake of buying a BD movie (I mean who can honestly watch universally hated movies like Ultraviolet, Aeon Flux, Click, Into the Blue...more than once, if even that...but I guess it's like you said, one man's LOTR is another mans Flyboys). Also, I can see some people have them still wrapped, I mean watch the movies you have, then buy new ones. Maybe people just like collecting, but then again, what is the collective value of the aforementioned movies?

But hey, i'm just voicing my opinion, and it's not my place to tell someone how to spend their money.

...I mean who can honestly watch universally hated movies like Ultraviolet, Aeon Flux, Click, Into the Blue...more than once, if even that.

I happen to really enjoy "Into the Blue." I have watched that Blu-ray disc like three times since buying it. I also enjoyed the film it so obviously copied, Peter Benchley's "The Deep" with Nick Nolte, Jacqueline Bisset, Robert Shaw and Louis Gossett.

...I can see some people have them still wrapped, I mean watch the movies you have, then buy new ones. Maybe people just like collecting, but then again, what is the collective value of the aforementioned movies?

Have you ever heard of a sale? I bought a ton of movies on the two for one deals. Many of my BDs were just 10 bucks apiece. The Warner Bros. discount codes also enabled me to buy a bunch at $14.36. So what's your beef with saving hundreds of dollars? Should I unwrap them to suit someone's preoccupation with my habits?

...and many movies that are horribly reviewed are actually a helluva lot of fun to watch. Movie reviewers are just average Joe Schmoes with an opinion (often bad ones). Many badly reviewed films are enjoyed long after their critics are dead, buried and thankfully, forgotten.

But hey, i'm just voicing my opinion, and it's not my place to tell someone how to spend their money.

Now you're talkin'!

I really happened to enjoy Into The Blue and Click.

Ultraviolet, if it's the Unrated version, is not that bad.

As it's been said before, one mans trash is another mans treasure.

And you can't really reason the motives for one to be a collector. Different people tend to collect all kinds of different things and it doesn't really need to be something that as use. Stamps anyone?

So even if one doesn't watch all the movies one buys. Satisfaction can still be had from just collecting them.

Why do people buy crappy movies that they're gonna watch maybe once?

how do you know you will only watch a movie once before you see it?

I buy movies for three reasons?

1) it is a movie I know I want (seen it and love it)
2) it is a movie that sounds interesting (reviews, back cover....) - aka blind buys
3) it is a movie in a none interesting genre but it is not bad and I would not mind re-seeing it (i.e. I bought Dirty dancing, OK movie and that way I have a chick flick if needed)

"^ Why do you have both the complete and ultimate Matrix collections?"

Long story short, I got the ultimate first and reloaded would not play, seems to be the usual issues lately with HD-DVD combos, couldn't return it, Warner said I had to send in the whole set and wait and see if they could figure out what is wrong with it with no guarantee I'd get a working replacement and it could be over a month for it to return. So I said screw it and got the complete set as they are non combos and play fine. So yeah I got a little jacked around because of the way Warner handles defective discs.

Lessen learned no more combos for me. All of the latest universal combos had issues luckily Universal was good about replacing the discs with working copies. Warner does not seem to have this type of process in place.

06-17-07, 10:30 PM

Your are correct, same for Stranger Than Fiction and Running with Scissors (well on my PS3 I can't). But I can play them on my PC (thanks to AnyDVD) and I've just bought a Region A player :)

From the US :)

on (anydvd) do you have to burn a disc to remove region code

You can do that, but I only have a reader, but I have Component out of my video card and did the job till I ordered the Region A player :D

I scored 19 Blu-ray at the pawnshop for $10 each and a few more from someone selling them. Thats the only reason why I have more Blu-ray titles.
