i have comcast cable and internet, i am trying to split the cable to another tv, so that it could just get basic cable, but split it and it only lets me watch what the main tv is on, can anyone tell me if i have to go from the box to the dvd player then splitter to tv, in other words how can i prperly split it so that i can watch both tvs on diffrent channels.

Split "before" the cable box, then one run to the cable box and the other to the secondary TV . Note: the second TV will only get basic/unscrambled cable channels, unless you rent a second box.
