Hi,

I am aware that "bizzare" problems are usually traced to dead Dallas chip battery,
but I have just replaced chip and done a reset, and PJ (ECP3500) been running OK for a few weeks.
The IR remote seems to suddenly start throwing out random commands instead of the actual ones on the keypad i.e I will press a button and a different menu command will come up on the PJ.
Thing is the inbuilt hard wired remote seems fine, the memory data seems to keep ok powered down, and the pj otherwise runs stable. I have changed the remote batteries and tried different lighting conditions.
Any ideas? Thanks.

It IS possible to reprogram the keys on a Marquee remote. Perhaps yours got accidentally re-assigned.
On page 2-10 of my User's Manual it says "To return all configuration settings to the jumper settings press "*" "BRITE" "TINT" "DETAIL" "0"
Note: The projector will not repond to keypad commands if you press "*" "BRITE" "TINT" "DETAIL" "2" If pressed accidentally, press "*" "BRITE" "TINT" "DETAIL" "0" to clear all keystroke settings.

Common problem this is... I wish I could remember what the fix is. It may be as simple as pressing that tiny "reset" button on the back of a Marquee which I would assume your ECP has also.

But it would be safer to just do a search here for (+marquee +remote +problem) so you can read what the fix is for sure.

I think I have solved this problem - inside the remote are four headers bridged with wire links. I assume these set the protocol and possibly the PJ model as well. I have removed, squirted a touch of contact cleaner, and reinserted the wire links and it seems ok now.
