View Full Version : What has happened to InFocus??

Some of us are looking to drive large to ultra-large 2.35:1 screens (now that this has become quite popular) and in the past it has been Infocus's main role to put out some serious light canons with decent throw ratios to illuminate large screens.

Now that a bunch of companies have come out with 1080p projectors (with very few having the big, bright D6500 calibrated lumen specs.) all we are getting is silence from the InFocus company.

Does anyone know of a 1080p DLP unit that is forthcoming from InFocus (hopefully one without a recessed lens and still has a medium-long to long throw lens)?

Thanks!

Dan

I thought there was rumor of a 1080 from Infocus but with the company up F/S
I do not know if it is on hold. It would be nice to see them offer something in the 1080 camp. Their projectors are usually bright with a lean price tag.

Do a search Dan, Infocus is in trouble, losing money and looking for a buyer. It seems reasonable to assume that is why they have not brought out new products.

It's a shame. I love my 7200. It has been the perfect answer to a great movie experience and having 25 people over for the game with half my room fully lit. I'm confident they would have done a solid job at a 1080p projector.

Well i have about 1000 in the bank, all we need to do is pull our resources together and we can buy Infocus for ourselves:)

Dan,
I think JVC would be a better deal.

I too am hoping InFocus (or anyone else for that matter) comes out with a 1080P PJ that has some decent lumens and decent PQ. I have a SP7200 and it has been very good to me. I intend to go with a 12' wide 2.37 setup. I don't think the RS1 will be bright enough with a Stewart Ultramatte 130 or 150 microperf. :( (And I am not made of money!) :)
