I'm just getting started, but so far...I'm very impressed by what the Crystalio can do for the oversaturation problem.

I dialed the color back by -10 and the saturation back by -15 on the Crystalio....after resetting the color to 0 on the RS-1.

I've been watching the Masters all afternoon....and the greens are much more muted and appropriate.

Still some punch to the blues and reds....but much more natural and appealing.

Chuck Williams is coming to calibrate the setup at the end of the month during his trip to the east coast. I'll report our findings and settings here.

What was your cost? I might be willing to pay for a VP that tames the greens and still gives me the CR and shadow detail of the RS1, providing not to expensive.

The Crystalio II lists for $4500....but you can pick it up for a good bit less than that.

I know we have a special on them.

Harry can you discribe the differences you see, if any, with the crystalio vs the on board VXP chip.

Not sure I see any difference in resolution of an HD signal. The issue is access to the saturation control and a correctly implemented color control. I've been able to dial in colors that are realistic and look like they actually exist!!

With an SD signal....i like what the Faroudja processing does better than the Gennum. Using the DynamicVP option, you can set the Crystalio to send HD through the Gennum chip and SD through the Faroudja chip. Pretty cool.
