Any other sets I should really consider? I have looked at Mitsubishi but the wife didn't like the flat black that most models seem to come in. What Samsung would be comparable? There are a lot of new models coming out and I'm a bit confused as to which is most apples to apples.

We need a 55-65" screen, in a bright room, so rear projection it is. My Pio5070 is going to get moved to the bedroom. We really like sharp images (not soft). We will probably use this set to view movies with a HDVD/BluRay someday, but for the time being, a mix of Standard Def, Hi Def cable, and standard DVDs.

Thankis.

Have you looked at the JVC 61FH/FN97 units? They also are LCoS based and they put out a really nice picture.

Have not had an opportunity to view one in person yet, but will try to find one in stock somewhere this weekend!

Samsung is definitely worth looking at as well. Check out samsung.com for a list of all models available (the 1080p displays are the ones comparable to the Sony) -- the HLS models are being phased out and replaced by the HLT models.

yeah, just got a samsung 61" last week. I was debating between a few sets including the sony, but decided to go with the samsung. Also saved me $600+ compared to the sony.

I just could never stand the video noise the Samsung TV's generally exhibit and really DLP in general compared to LCoS. I just placed an order for the 55a2020 SXRD and this is going to replace a JVC 720p HD-ILA which has been very good to me as well. In my opinion it just seems to give a more accurate picture.
