Any news if Warner plans to release the new cut on Blu-ray instead of the theatrical cut on HD DVD (which I have)? I'm an ancient civilization nut so I'll have to buy it.

View Full Version : I heard an extended cut of Troy was coming. eightninesuited 04-08-07, 08:41 PM Any news if Warner plans to release the new cut on Blu-ray instead of the theatrical cut on HD DVD (which I have)? I love these period films. SyHD 04-08-07, 10:14 PM They are planning to add another 30 minutes to the film. The theatrical release was already 162 minutes long. The new cut will be 222 minutes long ...HD DVD might have a problem with that. xradman 04-08-07, 10:23 PM They are planning to add another 30 minutes to the film. If it's that long, I have no problem with movie being split into 2 discs. eric10301 04-08-07, 10:46 PM Fantastic, I think I may be one of the few people who really enjoyed this. TheCuze 04-08-07, 10:48 PM You may not have a problem with having 2 discs, but I do. It can ruin an immersive movie-watching experience for me if I have to stop the film, get up, change the disc, and select play again. This was one of the reasons I got excited about these new formats in the first place: so that not only could I watch films like the extended Lord of the Rings movies with insane picture and audio quality, but that I could do so on a single disc without any intermission. If HD-DVD can't offer that, then that's a shame, but I'm sure 50gb BD can. eightninesuited 04-08-07, 11:06 PM Guys, please don't turn this into a "why we need 50gb disc" thread. edo9125 04-08-07, 11:07 PM You may not have a problem with having 2 discs, but I do. So if a movie is split on 2 discs for HD DVD it will be split on 2 Blu-rays. Plus if its 2 HD-30's there is no reason for them to spend extra money on 2 BD-50's when they can cut the True HD and sell it on 2 BD-25's. Not to rain on anyones parade, but this as was already known SyHD 04-08-07, 11:12 PM 162+30=222 ??? Shouldn't that be another 50 minutes? HD DVD can probably do 192 mins but barely ...without compromising on PQ that is. Never mind my comment. :D oink 04-08-07, 11:26 PM When can I order? ;) |
