View Full Version : Any news on previously announced Fox/Sony titles?
TwinTurboZX 04-09-07, 12:03 AM Does anyone have any news on any of the following titles:
Fox:
Fistful of Dollars
For A Few Dollars More
Dances With Wolves
A Bridge Too Far
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Man On Fire
Sony:
Glory
The Professionals
The Bridge on the River Kwai
The Guns of Navarone
Buena Vista:
Open Range
Cam Man 04-11-07, 12:52 AM Yes, any news? A great list. The Thomas Crown Affair was on that list originally, as well.
Dan Hitchman 04-11-07, 01:03 AM Fox, I guess, is wanting BD+ and the other Blu-ray copy protection schemes implemented since AACS was cracked so easily.
Denial isn't just a river in Egypt, as the saying goes. :D
There isn't a thing you can do to stop viral hackers. If they want it bad enough, they'll find a way. Studios are... just so monumentally nieve! ;)

I understand the circumstances involved and why they were pulled or delayed, but I'm wondering if anyone knows when we can expect any of these titles. Also, that excuse works for Fox, but what is Disney's reason for delaying Open Range not to mention the Sony titles?
GizmoDVD 04-11-07, 01:34 AM Fox is going neutral.
Icemage 04-11-07, 01:36 AM Fox is going neutral.
Cite some evidence or take the fanboyish comment out of the format specific forum please.
sstephen 04-11-07, 02:09 AM I read somewhere in the past week (digital bits maybe?) that the world wide capacity for producing BD and HD DVD is currently too low, and that the studios have delayed some titles, basically because they can't get them pressed. I don't follow HD DVD too closely, so I can't really comment on that, but if Fox et al. want BD50, isn't Sony still the only producer? Maybe they underestimated demand for BD50, or they are still having issues producing them reliably.
BTBuck1 04-11-07, 02:22 AM Fox is going neutral.
yeah and so is sony & disney
Funny.
When Universal stopped releasing titles back in January, them going neutral soon was almost a fact for some.
When FOX does it, that argument is rubbish all of a sudden…
Sadly, I don't think you guys have one title listed so far that I'd buy.
Funny.

Additionally, there is no industry scuttlebut about Fox, whereas there IS with Universal. You have to take all of the pieces of information together, not just one piece and then turn the argument around. But hey, whatever makes you sleep better...

I will note for the record that I was among those who did not believe Universal was going neutral back in January. I wasn't posting here at the time, but you can reference my comments over at eProductWars in early to mid January under the username "Jim".
Both arguments for neutrality are complete rubbish.

Well, Universal never badmouthed Blu-ray. Fox on the other hand pretty much called HD DVD a POS.
Mad Chemist 04-11-07, 11:39 PM I was really looking forward to The Princess Bride and Glory.

Well Fox hasn't been snooping around HDDVD encoding facilities...Universal has been visiting BD facilities...

I would really like to have a new version of The Princess Bride.

You know what they say...behind that kind of emotion usually lies admiration and love. ;)
Now if they were unemotional about it...
