Hi all,
I'm building a dedicated HT room, and are planning to move my trusty BG808s out there, but I want it to be as quiet as possible, so I want to build a hush box around it.

But now I get my doubts regarding if it is worth the effort and costs to build a box, and spending hours and hours recalibrating the projector to the new room. Or I should just skip it off, and buy a Sony Pearl, which is very silent in itself, and doesn't require the same amount of adjustment?

So, can somebody please convince me that I should keep my Barco, and that it definitely is worth the effort?

If I keep the 808s, I am considering to do the Mike Parker Barco2 mod on it, any comments on that? I'm using John's DVI input on it.

Thanks, Morten.

If you are already thinking on mods, DVI input cards, etc. you are almost already convinced... :)

I'd just mention how digitals are more tiring to watch, generally....If you do a lot of viewing, this might be a strong reason to stay with crt...

There's enough posts about how bad the Pearl is over in the digital forums, isn't that enough?

You have an "s" series PJ. YOu don't want to use port 3 unless you have to. I would not use John's on port 3 on your PJ. If you keep the Barco, then I would convert this to use on port 5 or get the HDFury that John has engineered. I've found the best way to use this is plugged into the passthrough port of Kim's trascoder with gamma.

It's that bad, huh? :D

So if I take it off the port 3 and the com port, and connect it via a serial cable, and a 9 pin to 5 bnc cable to port 5, then I get a much better result? And then a mod would be a waste of money?
