Since there are many version of T2 on SDVD, wondering if there is any news on a new version for Blu-ray coming? Was hoping for a lossless audio track and also option for extended cut.

Expect better audio and a better transfer. Its one of my favorite movies by the way... :) Mr. Cinema 04-09-07, 02:07 PM A BD-50 using AVC + a PCM track would be nice. SED <--- Rules 04-09-07, 03:33 PM T2 is a pure classic. I don't care how many times its dipped! Just bring on 50GB AVC PCM!!! :D SirDrexl 04-09-07, 03:41 PM I think its safe to say we can expect double, triple, and quadruple dips on this one. I've lost count of how many LD and DVD versions there were. This movie *invented* double dipping. :p Yeah, part of the reason is that it's been controlled by different smaller companies. For them, it's one of their biggest catalog titles (if not their biggest), so there's no wonder they want to milk it. Lionsgate has been fairly aggressive in their releases, so there's a good chance it could get another edition before too long. I'm hoping for one with both the theatrical and director's cuts, lossless audio in some form, and the extras from the Ultimate and Extreme Edition DVDs. New encoding would be a given. eightninesuited 04-09-07, 06:39 PM I think they should wait until BD-J is sorted out. I want to see a pip commentary with James Cameron. It would be cool if they managed to include the T2 arcade game in there as well. isaidme 04-09-07, 08:36 PM I can't imagine them redoing it anytime in the near future. Just getting one movie out on BR is an accomplishment and great expense, much less offering another version of the same title. BR is just too young and too expensive at this point. edo9125 04-09-07, 09:10 PM Yes there is a new version of it coming at the end of the month, on HD DVD :D The HD DVD includes both the Theatrical and Extended cuts. eightninesuited 04-09-07, 11:06 PM Yes there is a new version of it coming at the end of the month, on HD DVD :D The HD DVD includes both the Theatrical and Extended cuts. Yea, but you have to import it from Siberia at stupid prices. IMO, it's not availble to me unless I can pick it up at my local Best Buy with my endless supply of giftcards. Robert George 04-09-07, 11:28 PM http://xploitedcinema.com/catalog/terminator-judgment-french-release-preorder-p-11233.html Well, let's see... Xploited Cinema is in Cleveland. Okay, that's close to Siberia, but $31.95 is not a "stupid" price, unless we were talking about a Fox Blu-ray. Import or not, it'll be very interesting to compare these two. Maybe the upcoming HD-DVD version is a factor why they are releasing a new one on Blu-ray. joerod 04-09-07, 11:56 PM I am still using my DTHEATER version! DavidHir 04-10-07, 12:02 AM While the Blu-ray version is better than the "Extreme" SD DVD, it's still a bit disappointing. I'll be curious how the Studio Canal version compares - hopefully it won't have audio pitch issues. Rakesh.S 04-10-07, 12:10 AM i'm waiting for the sextuple dip SirDrexl 04-10-07, 12:47 AM Maybe the upcoming HD-DVD version is a factor why they are releasing a new one on Blu-ray. Whoa there, let's not get carried away. :) Nobody has said they are releasing a new one at all. We're just speculating as to whether they will or won't. My mistake. I was getting the re-release of 5th Element mixed up with the talk of T2. Robert George 04-10-07, 02:16 PM I'll be curious how the Studio Canal version compares - hopefully it won't have audio pitch issues. I've actually heard a little about the transfer/encode that Studio Canal will be releasing for T2, but this is the Blu-ray section and we will leave that discussion for another day and another forum. Suffice to say at the moment, it could be an interesting discussion when the HD DVD gets released ;). |
