Any way I can make a pool table work in this room?

Thats a tough one I think the best way would be to go with a 7 foot table then figure it out, the reason being you could get a 48 in cue but there are spots where you only have 20 some inches.

My honest opinion is that it just wouldn't be fun or comfortable to try to play in that odd of a space. I'd get foosball, air hockey, or something like that to fill the space.

I have to agree, there is a lot of space but because of the shape a table may just not be fun. You could turn it into a nice game room with Video games a bar and foosball.

I would say it's not close enough for serious consideration. I have >= 57" clearance around all sides of my table and it's still a bit tight when the cue ball is right on the rail.

You need a lot of clearance for the cue sticks..
Have you thought about air hockey, arcade machines, pinball, and the like?

I agree with others, you just don't have the space, unless you are a billards die hard take a pass, the cost of a good pool table could buy you a couple of pinball machines :)
