I finally got my Panasonic 42" plasma mounted last night, and could NOT get it to work--very frustrating.

From my Scientific Atlanta 8300HD, I have a component video cable going OUT to the "TV/STB" IN on my Panasonic SA-XR57 receiver. I then have a component video cable going from the "TV monitor" OUT on my receiver to the component video IN on my Panasonic TH-42PH9UK plasma. I can’t seem to get a picture, unless I mess with the input switch on my plasma, and only then it will sometimes shows a pinkish/red program title bar at the bottom.

Is there a flaw in my setup? What should I change?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Have you tried running the component cable directly to the display? If that works, then your issue is with the receiver. If it doesn't, verify that your SA8300 is in the HD mode (front panel should show 1080i or 720p when tuned to a HD channel). Your description of red (really it is magenta) sounds like the 8300 is in the SD mode. There are several 8300 threads to check with for help there.

Also check to see if you have the cables connected to the correct inputs. If one cable is in the wrong input, you can get all kinds of strange effects. Also make sure your receiver is set to output component signals and not composite or S-Video.
