Okay, for those of you who have bought that one stinker DVD-Audio or SACD disc that you really regret purchasing, here's your chance to sound off. And, maybe we can save some other poor soul from wasting their $$ on a bad purchase.

I'll start with the worst DVD-A in my collection:

Bob Marley – African Herbsman

This one sounds like it was recorded on someone's cassette deck, outdoors. Horrible sound quality! I tried listening to it once, and couldn't stand to make it all the way through.

Other than the 2 Gordon Goodwin Big Phat Band DVD-A's (which are staggeringly good), just about anything from Silverline.

Sex Pistols: No Future U.K. (Silverline)

a couple stinkers i purchased recently. both live albums.

led zeppelin - how the west was won

lynyrd skynyrd - now and then (i think that's the title)

for some reason i was thinkiing/hoping they would sound as good as the allman brothers - live at fillmore east. not even close. they both sound like they were recorded in the astrodome. you know, that huge stadium sound where the amps are cranked way up. whereas the allman brothers record has that "small club" sound which sounds great.

it's too bad cuz they are two of my favorite classic rock bands.

I notice that all the releases mentioned so far are Silverline.
Let me add:
Desmond Dekker Best of.
It does indeed live up to it's billing as the worst DVD-Audio ever.
I have a Curtis Mayfield Silverline release I am literally afraid to open.

I really can't stand some of the tracks on the Metallica Black Album DVD-A. Enter Sandman especially has this "gee-whiz-we-can-pan-all-five-speakers-ad-nauseum" mix that is just goofy.

In my collection, it would have to be Megadeth "Peace Sells" DVD-A. Great album, but sounds more like a CD than multi-channel

Wallflowers - Rebel, Sweetheart DualDisc.
The rear , center and sub channels are almost non-existent on the 5.1 mix. I thought something was wrong with my disc but I disconnected my front mains and there is occasional sound coming from the other speakers.

The general recording quality is pretty poor too. Really too bad as the music is very good IMO.

Talk about non existent 5.1.....Springsteen "Devils and Dust" has to be near the top of the list.

I can actually get into "How the West Was Won". There are several tunes that I think are superb: "Since I've Been Loving You" and "Dancing Days". Some not so: "Immigrant Song". But I still am glad I own it and listen to it on occasion.

yeah. not my favorite as far as recording quality goes, but how the west was won is pretty much my favorite led zeppelin album. it's about tied with bbc sessions and physical graffiti.

i hate most 5.1 surround mixes for music. the band ain't playing behind you. i'm a 2 channel whore. except in electronic music, i'm just not into the whole surround sound thing, especially when it's not done properly. however, silverline stuff is just plain horrible. and blonde on blonde by bob dylan isn't that good of a recording to begin with, the higher resolution of sacd combined with a sloppy surround mix just makes it horrible.

Hmm, I love most 5.1 surround mixes for music - and I really like the agressive mixes just as much as the more conservative ones. I play guitar (amateur), so for me it seems just fine for the band to play behind and around me. Plus, most rock music isn't presented on a studio recording the same way it would be "live".

But, that's why we're all different. It would be boring otherwise.

AS for the question at hand: Wallflowers Rebel Sweetheart Dualdisc is indeed my most disappointing surround disk. Close follow-up is Ben Fold Songs for Silverman (a blind buy that just doesn't do it for me).
