Grabbed myself a C/L/R 2002 recently! With the new DefTech 8000 series speakers that are out I noticed how much the price of the C/L/R 2002's had dropped, and I simply could not resist the temptation to upgrade while the prices were as good as they were. Once the C/L/R arrived my sneaking suspicions were realized in that the new speaker wasn't going to fit on the shelf of my TV stand, and without the ability to mount my TV the speaker obviously wasn't going to fit on the top of the TV stand either. After a bit of research I saw a few options in how I could manage the setup, but I decided to take the cheapest route and I just slapped the speaker on a small end table that I already had. With the added space the table was going to eat up in front of my TV now, I decided to basically shift all of my living room 90 degrees to the left, and this allowed me to more comfortably setup the front sound stage since the listening area was now using the length of the room to its advantage.

While I was rearranging my whole living room, I decided to throw together a HTPC out of some old computer parts I had around, and that is the new little black box that is sitting next to the SM450 on the right side. Currently I have a small monitor placed by the HTPC while I continue to configure it, but I already have the computer setup for remote access so I can just login from my main PC and manage the content from there. Right now the biggest function I have planned for this PC is music streaming. I'm a Pandora One customer, so I have the Pandora One gadget setup on there, and I have my local music being shared over the network as well so I can use a standard music player and play my songs over the DefTech's. I suppose Netflix and Hulu should stream okay on the HTPC as well, but I'm not sure how the aging hardware inside will handle the High Def content. When I get around to it I'll probably pick up an RF/Bluetooth keyboard with a touchpad built-in, or maybe one of those motion air mice that you essentially wave around like a Wii controller (cool but expensive).

Also while doing all the rearranging, I decided to finally take out my two additional ProMonitor800's and I mounted them on the walls as my Surround's, and moved the other two (on the stands) to the Surround-Back positions. When I had the setup the short length of the room I just setup the 5.1 because it sounded good enough, and honestly I just couldn't be bothered with mounting etc while I was initially moving in. Now that I had more room and time, I decided to do it right and get the fruits of 7.1 once again.

Well, that's about it for now. Thanks for reading! Here are a slew of new pictures to check out. Let me know what you think (or if you have any questions or recommendations) by replying in the thread.

Moved into a new apartment recently so threw some pics together. Currently I am running the same tech, however an Emotiva XPA-3 amplifier may find its way onto my shelf pretty soon. I'll have the XPA-3 power the front's and the AVR power the rears.

Don't mind the mess, these pics were a quick thought and I'm too lazy to clean right now :)

I'd still like to break into some Martin Logan's some day, perhaps when I get a house and I go all out on a true HT room.

Good lord. Why weren't you my roommate in college? Damn. Very nice setup. My college system was total crap compared to that.

Nice setup!

I wish I had a picture of my college system from the 80s. It was a car stereo, Car Eq and 12V Radio Shack Power supply "custom mounted" in a wood box with plexiglass doors and a pair of HK downfiring speaker boxes with orange drivers that I saved from the trash can.

Those were the days...of lousy audio.

Lots of extra points for the mega-drive, N64 and modded NES. Old skool ;)

What mod did you do to the NES?

By the way are you attending your classes or do you have an itching to miss a few lessons?

I am trying to remember if they had tv's while I was in the dorm mode, way back then.

Heck of a set up.

haha. well since ive been home ive been making sure i attend my classes (homework is another story though :D ). thank you for the compliments, i do appreciate them especially when i know theres about 99% of the other forum members here that have a better setup than i do.

ive actually been thinking alot about grabbing an open item denon 2807 receiver that we have at work (mostly for hdmi switching + i guess easier upgradability incase i decide to go w/ some tower speakers in the future) but besides the clear increase in price (even if i sell off my 1507) im still debating it since the new denons should be out soon with hdmi 1.3 support for lossless audio.
keep in mind this $$$ is non-existant right now so idk what im actually gonna do haha

I visit a lot but still don't post much. None the less, I stumbled across this and felt compelled to update since things have changed so much. It's a few years later and I'm a few years better educated, but a lot of you guys still blow me away (read intimidate LOL).

For what it's worth, check the 1st post if you want to check out/converse about anything in my current HT setup.

I like the Panamax representation. Not too many around here seem to use them, for some reason. I have an older 5100 in my bedroom that I've had for 8 years now. They're pretty darn reliable.

This is true I've rarely seen Panamax products around, maybe some APC battery backups or Monster Power Centers or some companies I've never even heard of (probably way out of my price range) but I really haven't seen Panamax too much. I'm not sure if people just don't believe their product and what they bring to the table or if the company just isn't as well known as I had originally thought it to be.

So it has been over a year since I have updated this thread but thankfully my financial situation has improved moving from an unemployed college grad to a working professional, and I have great things on the horizon!

I've moved to a new apartment and with that come two quick snapshots of the new room. As I also stated in the OP I am on the verge of nabbing an Emotiva XPA3 to power my front's. If it happens you can be sure I'll post back with a few more snapshots and my report on the unit.

Cheers!

Just took the plunge on a C/L/R 2002! I was shopping for the C/L/R 1000b to match my SM450's (thanks DefTech Owner's Thread) but I only found one or two on the market, and the price of the 2002 was more of what I could afford at the moment. So far I'm very pleased with the upgrade. Check out the new pics and write up in the 1st post!

I had a nice setup in college once. It lasted for about a month before throwing a party caused me to lose a floor speaker and my glass coffee table to a drunken brawl in my living room.

Yikes, I'm sorry to hear that. Thankfully I have since graduated college and I'm off in a single apartment living on my own, so no roommates will bring over any unexpected guests and hopefully any friends I have over myself won't get that rowdy!

What kind of system are you rockin these days Nismyst?
