Hey all, just picked up my HV20 from bestpricecameras.com. Yeah, they have a terrible reputation, and I had to haggle the guy there 3 times before I got a great deal from him (he even told me not to call him back and tell him I was "getting hosed" because they were very busy...classic  ).

Anyway, I did some test shots today and it's really impressive. The interesting thing is that I shot some footage in its normal SD mode and compared that to footage shot with my Sony TRV17 MiniDV cam and the picture was much better...should be the same resolution, right?

Does anyone know why this would be so?

thanks,
Rob

The lens used for an HD camera will have to be better (higher resolving resolution) than an SD camera. This alone will make the image look better.

Second, the differences in sensor size (I know it's not the only reason), pixelcount and pixelsize.
