cybersoga 04-11-07, 03:02 AM I wonder how they create these discs from imax film - presumably the digital master they produce from scanning the film negative is way higher resolution than 35mm film and HD.
LazerViking 04-11-07, 03:04 AM Rad, will be a good supplement to Discovery's Planet Earth and worthy of some wide-eyed, jaw-gaping vistas I'm sure.
Degenerazn 04-11-07, 04:30 AM Only 42 minutes long? :( I'll have to pass on this one
The target audience is grade school children.
I think I'll pass.

I hope you realize that 98% of IMAX features are that length? The fact Warner is including a second IMAX film, The Dream is Alive, makes this disc a double feature. Let's hope these sell well, so they can release more IMAX titles like Africa Serengeti and Antarctica.
ShagMan 04-11-07, 09:10 AM Excellent, added to my list. Love those IMAX features!
jason10mm 04-11-07, 09:53 AM If the second feature is the one where they walk around the space station, it is FANTASTIC! Saw it at the Luxor during a break from drinking and gambling :P
This will be awesome. I wonder what aspect ratio it will be presented in. Isn't Imax 1.33:1 or something like that? I, for one, would forgive a little cropping on this type of material to make it 16:9.

That "little cropping", would be like 1/3 of the frame.
Anyone know if this is OAR?
Thanks.

Africa Serengeti with James Earl Jones narrating is a good one. That disc has so much energy in the LFE channel that I have to turn it down just for that dvd.

More like 1/4, and I don't think I would miss it on images of Earth taken from space. I don't have the inside of a dome to project it on in my house, and I don't think I'll miss that either.
