I have a number of the most talked about discs with great picture quality, but all are in 2.35 / 2.40 to 1 AR. For a special demo need I am looking for any titles or HD DVD demo discs (if available anywhere) in 16x9. So far all I can find in the racks at Best Buy or available yet at Amazon is The Eagles Farewell 1 Tour from Australia. How good is the quality on that if anyone knows, and are there any others out there, please?

Thanks much

Hulk is 1.85, is that close enough?

I think One Six Right is what you are looking for. It's has a 1.78 AR, incredible visuals and actually has a demo reel of it's best looking shots as a special feature. As an additional bonus it's a lower priced disc on Amazon. As long as you can appreciate shots of beautiful landscapes and gleaming planes you will like this release.
But if that isn't your style, Beside You In Time is a sure bet as a visual and audio demo.

The eastiest answer is the Tier thread and then break it down by aspect ratio, which one can do by going to a number of websites including Amazon or IMDB.

The Hulk or Corpse Bride

Yeah, I'd go with those for "show-off" quality 16:9. "Children of Men" looks great, too, but it's not nearly as showy for quick demos.

Also Sky Captain....i think its 1.85. No black bars....for sure.

For live action it's Hulk, for animation it's A Scanner Darkly.

That would be great as I've read about its quality and is one I picked up. But on the package it says wide screen 2.35 to 1. Is there an option for both?

The others say the following:

Space Cowboys "1080P Std. Definition 16x9 2.4"
Terminator 3 "1080P Hi Definition 16x9 2.4"
Batman Begins "1080P Hi Definition 16x9 2.4"

I haven't yet opened or am ready yet to play them.

That is exactly the kind of programming I'm looking for as well in 16x9. I had searched at Amazon for HD DVD titles and did not see this in the 3 pages that came up. Is that the exact title,
"One Six Right" and if I search on it it should come up? Thanks!

It's a misprint on the label. It's 1.85:1

No problem. The search should get you there but just in case here's a link to One Six Right (http://www.amazon.com/Desiree-Horton-Syndey-Pollack-Lorenzo/dp/B000L42VRA).

Along with the tier thread, here's a list (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=813955) that might help you find what you're looking for. I haven't updated it for a month, but I will soon. ;)

scope is the studio's original format ,so I think you guys might want to buy or build a scope screen...other wise deal with the bars. I'm not trying to be mean.

The 16x9 titles sought are for a special demo purpose, not that I have any problem with wider ARs or bars

i'm gonna say nine inch nails - beside you in time. it's listed as the 10th best looking hd-dvd in the tier thread, and i believe it is the only release that was given a 5 star rating in both video quality and audio quality at high def digest. some of the close up shots are incredible and it is one of the cheaper hd-dvds on the market.

Happy feet was the other.

Happy Feat is wide AR though, correct? At least it's listed that way on the packaging.

I just want to say thanks very much for the information and links to great sites. Much appreciated. From what has been posted here I now will have plenty of reportedly great footage to show with the entire screen area filled which was important to me for this demo. I'm not yet hooked in with HDTV in this particular space but the HD DVD quality will be better anyway.

The Hulk......I already had but thought it was 2.35 due to info error on package.
