I have a Sony 65 ws 510 and from quite some time I noticed the picture it was quite green,During extensive reading on the board and tips got from Mr Bob and Htwaits I was able to find my blue lamp went out,The reason I open this thread is for read from you guys and gals, how easy or hard is to DIY and swap out myself the lamp since the reason for my decision is in my case I live on the West Coast of the Island and the Sony Certified techs in this area well simply put they suck and every time I need to do something with my TV I have to drive around 120 miles to get the right stuff,But is hard and stressful to do this over again(Is a 300 pound beast).I am a DNS Tech but I am full aware this is other ball game,So I will love to get Ideas from you folks. In other note ..Is amazing even with 2 lamps the picture in this RPTV,So I have to concur with other members,RPTV could be and old fashion technology,But still can get awesome results from them.

I was able to find my blue lamp went out

It is not a "lamp", it is a "picture tube" (CRT) that is not functioning. Do not assume that the problem is the CRT itself ... there are many, many simpler things that can be wrong with it.

Get a Sony tech to repair it!

Have you confirmed that the blue CRT is in fact "dead" by looking inside the set while on? (could involve removing the screen or at least the rear panel to see if the blue gun is in fact lighting up or not) If there was no blue at all in the picture, everything would take on the look of the image seen thru a yellowish filter (and would presumably be darker than normal as blue is more a fill color than structural).

Could be something a lot less complicated that a complete CRT replacement. Can you post pictures of what you are seeing? Might be a big help.

I went to the service menu and just turn off each gun (Thru the RGBS command) and all exept the blue gun is working properly.
