FX doesn't have an HD feed, though the show is filmed in HD. That's one reason why we're recording it directly to DVD, rather than watching it now, and will make a decision later in the summer whether to watch our DVDs or buy the commercial DVDs. They're not HD either, but 480p is a lot better than 480i.

same thing true of "the riches"?

Well, we didn't. Besides, I think think The Riches "needs" HD as much as The Shield does.

Having viewed the first 2 episodes of this season,I don't know how you can wait! Hard enough waiting a week for the next ep! Compelling program regardless of format.

I agree, The Shield is the only non-HD program I watch on a weekly basis.

I had heard of 'The Shield', but admittedly never watched it.

A couple of weeks back I was bemoaning over in the '24' HDTV forum thread, how I had been an avid viewer of '24' for years, but was losing all interest, as well as patience, with the way the season wasn't developing this year. A few guys chimed in, suggesting that 'The Shield" would make a great alternative.

Well, they were right. I cannot get enough of this show. I've been DVRing and watching episodes on both FX and Spike, and am just amazed that the leads in this show are essentially gritty Bad cops, although they are more multi-dimensional than just that abbreviated description, who are dealing with both their professional and personal issues. I also understood why this show could never be on one of the Big 3 without being seriously neutered of the very material that makes it riveting.

I am grateful that I can look forward to catching up with 6 seasons of what I now consider one of the very best shows on television. Thanks, guys. :)

It's my favorite show on TV. Episode just ended over here. Next weeks season finale looks crazy.

I've been watching since season 1 and this has to be the only show i ever watched that never got crappy season after season (unlike the Sopranos)

I'm just a little confused. When I got with this show, mostlly due to the advice of forum members (including you I think), I recall a few posters bemoaning that this was its last season. But the finale next week is characterized as a Season finale, not a Series finale. What gives?

Did something get changed (not that I wouldn't be grateful if it did :) ?

The posters who stated this is the final season are incorrect. There will be a season 7, which will be the final season.

Just got the opportunity to catch the Season 6 finale, and I'm still completely amazed at how the plot intricacies and pacing remain fresh even after six seasons. And every time Vic starts moving, I can't help but hear 'Locomotive Breath' start playing in the back of my mind. :)
