Runco, Vidikron on High-End Projector Tech: 2.35, ISF Certification
Before the days of home theater, Vidikron established itself as a premier brand for electronics specialty retailers. The company opened its doors in Milan, Italy in 1980, and it quickly built a reputation as a performance video manufacturer. Approximately five years ago, Runco International acquired the company with the purpose of developing two distinctly separate brands that cater specifically to custom installers through limited distribution channels.
Today, authorized Vidikron resellers can enjoy the same level and product development and sales support that has driven Runco for the past 20 years. In an effort to explain the working relationship between the two brands, Jim McGall, vice president of sales and marketing for Vidikron, explains what makes the two companies unique, and how Vidikron can help its dealers overcome the market doldrums of the video category.

Can you briefly explain the working relationship between Vidikron and Runco?
Actually there is only one company: Runco International. Runco International manufactures and markets its products under two brand names: Runco and Vidikron. Both brands cater to the high-end home theater consumer market, through custom-installation dealers.
Both brands enjoy the benefits of Runco's renowned engineering advances such as CineWide technology, advanced video processing and many others. Both brands were the launch nameplates for THX Certified video display products, which is a significant achievement considering how high THX has raised the bar in terms of the video performance parameters that must be met in order to be certified.
Both brands also share sales, service and support staffs, as well the management and engineering staffs. The Runco business model has been highly successful and its approach has been applied to Vidikron to enable Vidikron dealers to enjoy the same high level of attention that Runco does. So the relationship is very symbiotic.
