I'm assuming 60i gets processed to 29.9fps??? Is that progressive??
What does 24p get processed to?? Is that progressive also??

60i... i is for interlace
24p....p is for progressive
60i frame rate is 29.97 (interlace is processed at 1/2 the stated frame rate because its fields are interlaced
the framerate of 24p is 24

So you're 60i video is 30fps??? Do you convert 60i to 30p?? Is there a point in doing so??
Now I 60i is FIELDS per second correct, whereas 24p is FRAMES per second??
So 60i FIELDS is really 30 FRAMES per second because each FIELD is half of the information??

Actually it works out to 29.97... but you've got the general idea.

I see a lot of people getting confused by this... there isn't anything called 60i or 24p.
there is 1080p or 1080i @ 60 or 24
60, 30 (29.97) and 24 (23.98) are all frames per second (FPS).
1080i/60 or 1080p/24 is correct, but not 60i or 24p
Not trying to flame, just trying to keep people from getting even more confused.

Technically you are correct... but there is a 60i and 24p... they are used as SHORT methods to explain what you just laid out. They are what you might call acronyms
